It was absolutely pouring down rain when I walked in to work this morning. I had my umbrella with me (the raincoat is no good when it's this warm and humid) but I still managed to get pretty completely soaked everywhere but my head. By the time I got to work the seat of my shorts was very wet (I looked like I sat in a puddle) and they're still not dry. Neither are my socks and shoes. The 'dry' shirt I had in my backpack to change into also had big wet patches on it because my pack got soaked through.

Oddly enough, despite all that, I'm having a fairly good day. I remembered to eat a decent breakfast (yesterday I had a tiny little yogurt and nothing else - I crashed and burned long before lunch and then felt too sick to eat) so I made it through the morning swimmingly. *cringes at bad wordplay* And I've decided to treat myself and buy a slice of pizza for supper, so the world is all good.

You need one of those plastic ponchos they sell at Disney World!

It's sad that one of those ponchos might actually work better than my high tech, very lightweight raincoat in this weather. The raincoat keeps the rain out but even with the vents wide open, it traps all the heat and humidity inside, so then I get just as wet from sweat as I would from rain, lol.

Luckily it was dry all the way home. :)

When I was doing the walking to work thing I always carried a complete set of extra clothes with me on rainy days. The trick was to put everything into a heavy duty plastic bag inside the backpack, because I don't think a truly waterproof backpack has ever been invented.

Anyway, I'm glad you are having a swimmingly good day despite have to swim through the rain on your way to work. Enjoy the pizza - yummerronis!

I may have to start doing that myself. I take an extra shirt but I didn't bother with shorts. Of course, I would also have to take extra shoes and socks and then it just becomes more weight to carry on my long walk, so it rapidly reaches a point of diminishing returns.

I ended up resisting the lure of pizza tonight. I want to go out with the FCG tomorrow and if I spent money on pizza and a bus ride tonight (that was the other thing I really wanted to do) then I couldn't justify the fun money tomorrow. So I'll just look forward to dinner with the FCG and have mac and cheese or something like that tonight.

As a floater, do you get as much as a cubby to yourself at work? The other thing I did when I walked to work was to keep an extra pair of shoes and socks at work - when my feet got soaked on the way to work, I at least had something dry to change into when I got there. (Actually, I kept my old worn out running shoes under my desk at work - they pretty much stank the place up, and weren't th most comfortable things to wear in any circumstances - but they did allow me to have dry feet on a number of occasions.)

Enjoy the night out!
