Four (five?) hours later I've got a whole whopping one page done in rough form. *sigh* If only I could focus even a little bit, I might make more progress, but this is where my major writing weakness comes into play. This paper isn't due until Monday. That means that even though I have another paper due Wednesday (which I haven't even started yet) and more readings than I can possibly get done in the time available, the part of my brain that controls productivity thinks that I've got tons of time and keeps wandering off to check out lj or search for info about the band that is currently playing on my playlist or any of a hundred other things that aren't writing the frickin' paper.

Tomorrow I'm going to the library. That's all there is to it. I hate working at the library but there won't be any distractions and maybe I'll be able to get things done more efficiently.

I need a *headdesk* icon of some sort. I think I'll be wanting something of the sort a lot in the next year or so.

I think one reason I've been able to acquire several graduate degrees is that I did not have access to the internet for the first one! Be tough with yourself. Go directly to Word Perfect and make yourself stare at that screen until you fill it with words. Then you can play on the internet as a reward. (Easier said then done, I know.)

Yes, get away from all distractions! You'll be glad you did.

*hugs*

I'm getting better at ignoring the distraction that is lj. By the time I've finished the program I may have gotten the hang of it, lol.

Go right ahead! I got it- erm... *shrugs* somewhere. Can't remember, but I know it was with icons for the taking, so no need for credit anywhere.

Hey, hang in there! Everyone struggles at the beginning of a new graduate program in a new field. If you are worried that you really aren't coming up with as much information as was expected for the assignment, however, it might be a good idea to set up a time to talk with the prof about it. If s/he has office hours, and they aren't during your work hours, going to talk to him/her then would work. Otherwise try to make an appointment.

Once again - good luck! It's frustrating, but it will turn out ok. I promise!
