I lost my notebook this morning - the one that has all my syllabi, all my notes, and various other bits of research, etc., that I've been working on. Not good. I noticed it was missing only when it was time to go to catch my bus (and I'm noticing a trend here - this is the third morning in a row that something vitally important went missing just as I'm ready to head out the door). I spent a few frantic minutes searching the apartment but had to go or be late. I really don't remember taking the notebook out of my bag over the weekend, so I thought I must have left it at the library on Thursday. No such luck, they didn't have it. After class I came home and finally found the blasted thing, sandwiched between two boxes in a stack. No idea how it got there, except that I started going through all my stuff on Friday and must have moved stuff around, but I still don't remember why I would have even had it out Friday night. It's a mystery, but I'm glad I found it.

I finally broke down and got a haircut after class today. It was desperately needed, since it hadn't been cut since April, it started out as a bad cut and only grew out into a worse one. I went to Supercuts and the woman did a pretty good job, although I think she should have thinned it out a little more. I thought I had some hair gel here, but apparently I don't, so I really need to buy some as soon as possible, otherwise it's going to fluff up unacceptably, but otherwise, I really like it.

My goal today is to actually get some work done for the next few hours so that I can play in the evening. So I'm off!

how frustrating! But I think it's good that you noticed it was missing just as you had to leave to catch the bus - it minimized your opportunity for serious head-banging! And, as frustrating as life can be without head-banging - taking it up as a hobby has to make life much worse. Anyhoo - I'm glad you ultimately found the notebook. Now tell your resident Gizmo that he's only allowed to play (or hitch a ride) in your backpack if he doesn't take out and hide your things!

Congrats on the haircut! My bangs were driving me nuts this morning, so I chopped them. I can see better now, but I think it's debatable whether I also look better! :)

The problem with noticing things just as I'm leaving to catch my bus is that I tend to waste time searching, and then miss my bus. Luckily that didn't happen this morning, but it was a close thing. I'm beginning to catch on to the pattern that the particular bus that is supposed to be there at 8 am, is almost always a little early, so on the mornings I want to catch that bus, I just have to plan on leaving five minutes earlier than I would any other day.

Glad you found the notebook - and I hope you weren't too distracted during the day by wondering where it was. That's my (oh so helpful) response to not being able to find things before I need to leave for the day.

Well, I didn't take as many notes as usual in class (I had grabbed one of my tiny little 3x5 notebooks, but you can only write one or two sentences before you have to turn the page and that's annoying), and instead of staying on campus to do work, I went home early to look for my notebook again, so the day was a bit of a wash, sadly.

Glad you found the missing notebook. I hope it doesn't feel the need to hide from you anymore - getting out the door in the morning is shtreshful enough as it is.

Congrats on the haircut! I broke down and cut mine the week before I came out to visit you. You'd think that now I do it myself I would keep up with it (not having "I can't afford it" as an excuse), but I have to wait until both my courage is high and my scissors can be found at the same time. I'd love to be able to send you a DIY recipe for homemade hair gel you could whip up in your kitchen from ingredients you already have, and help you save your hard-earned cash, but alas! I am not Suzy Homemaker - just plain ol' Sue.

I decided long ago to not cut my own hair, as I like being able to show my face outside on occasion without wearing a hat, but I no longer go to Philip Pelusi - they are way over-priced and I still usually get a crappy haircut that isn't anything like I ask for. At Supercuts, it's twenty bucks with tip, and I usually get a decent cut, so I can't really complain.

Well, I really have no qualms about cutting my own hair; I usually end up liking the end result way better than the cuts I used to pay for. But I do have to wait until I am in the right frame of mind for it. And, as the one and only mirror in our house is the tiny one above the bathroom sink, I basically just keep cutting til it feels right when I run my fingers through it. Since I can't see what it looks like, I choose to assume it looks great! :)

I always get everything ready the night before, although I have the advantage of rarely needing to change the contents of my school bag.
