OMGWTF! The bad, anti-technology vibe that surrounds me needs to get over itself already and move on. Seriously!

So, my watch died without any warning yesterday afternoon, and I'm one of those people that gets way stressed if I don't know what time it is, all the time. Color me weird but I can't help it. So that was the first annoyance.

Then my internet/phone service went down last night around ten-thirty. I mean, come on. I've had this service for something like two and a half weeks and this is the second time it's been down for a significant amount of time. I don't have a cell-phone, so I had to wait until I got to work this morning to call Comcast and arrange to get someone to come out and look at it, and I had to come home and sit here waiting, rather than be at work (really not endearing myself to the boss, since today is the day that Licensing is coming to inspect the place). And then, all by itself, for nor apparent reason, after twelve hours, it comes back on.

I have a project due tomorrow that I could have been working on while I waited, except that, oh yeah, the instructions were posted online. Not to mention the fact that it needs to be turned in online, so if the internet goes out again, I'm screwed, because I can work on it from home, staying up as late as needed, but I can't really make it in to the computer lab for more than an hour between now and then, and that's only if I really want to be getting the bus to a slightly dicey neighborhood after ten o'clock tonight, which I don't really feel like doing.

I am just really fed the f*&k up right now.

You seem to have one of those technology clouds of doom that just surrounds and follows you. :(

*sends you good internet vibes for tonight*

I'm just crossing my fingers that whatever freak of nature made the thing go off and then on again keeps it on until after I get this project done. Otherwise tomorrow evening is going to suck big time, trying to get it done at the computer lab. :(

Well, I won't be able to do anything about the watch until the weekend, which makes me unhappy. Especially since most of the people at work don't have watches and I'm the usual time keeper. Still, in the grand scheme of things, it's a pretty small irritation.

I'm sorry the dark cloud of evil anti-technology energy is hovering around you (and LP as well). I hope it goes away and never comes back to haunt you!

Hope the rest of your day & week is better...?
=D

LP says I've jinxed her, but honestly, her DSL worked the whole time I was there, so I think it's more like her system is simply mourning my absence. :)

It's been one of those days. You know the kind, where it starts out stressful and you just keep feeling wound up all day, no matter what actually is happening.

In some situation it would be better if we still lived in the typewriter-era LOL. There wasn't much that could go wrong, back then.

Seriously. Of course, with my luck, the ribbon would break, the keys would jam, the drum would fall off, etc, etc. Sometimes I feel as though the universe is actively out to annoy me. I don't know what I've done to piss it off, but boy is it a petty, petty little universe, lol.

What a crap-crap-crappy day! I hope that your techno-cloud goes away very soon, but I get the feeling it may actually have something to do with either the building you are living in or the neighborhood, rather than you. Tell the cable co that your experience with them so far has certainly not been Comcastic, and recommend that they seriously need to do something drastic to get the problem(s) fixed!

Speaking of your neighborhood, I just realized today that one of the new properties my company has coming online in the near future is virtually right around the corner from where you live. I'm finding it hard to believe that the address didn't ring a bell while I was circling the neighborhood during my visit to you the other weekend. Just another sign of how tired I've become, I guess - no mental clarity at all!

Is it that building right around the corner on Kelly that has been undergoing work ever since I got here?

I would venture to say yes, it is at (or very near) the corner of Hay and Kelly. It has the atrociously cute name of Dumplin Hall

Ouch! Here's hoping your cloud of techno-gloom goes away NOW. (Just don't send it my way, please - I generate enough of one all by myself.) I hope the project goes perfectly.

*hugs*

Well, I didn't send the techno-gloom cloud your way, but unfortunately, I also didn't get rid of it. I was offline again when I got home last night. :( This means I have to go into work early to finish working on my tuition appeal (due today), and then stay on campus to finish the project I have due tonight (by midnight) that I would be much happier to work on from home. *sigh* It also means I get to call Comcast again and this time insist that they send someone out regardless of whether it's actually working at the time or not.

Oh no! Do any of your professors know how much trouble you've been having? They might let you hand some things in as hard copy, at least, although I know that isn't really the biggest problem for you. I hope things are better today.

It's not so much the submitting of work that is the problem, because I can save to my flash drive and take it to the computer lab if I have to, it's actually doing work that has an online component to it that can be difficult. The computer lab in the SIS building is only open till ten at night although the main library's computer lab is open till 2 am (but boy do I not want to be heading out to the bus stop at two in the morning) and that is just not as convenient or safe as working from home.

Luckily, I got my stuff done in a reasonable amount of time yesterday and when I got home my computer and phone were both working. I'm really hoping that's the end of it, but I'm braced for more problems if they occur. I'm holding off on buying a cell phone for the moment, because I really don't want to have the extra expense, but it's become a real possibility because of this problem.
