Apparently I'm "eloquent," which I've come to understand means, we don't want to present the results of our group work, you were distracted for a minute and we all voted you to do the talking. D'oh! Actually, it was a surprisingly positive experience, so I can't complain. I felt bad for S, however, who is a student from Saudi Arabia. His comprehension of spoken English is fairly poor and so he really had no idea exactly what we were discussing and didn't feel comfortable contributing anything. I wonder how much he's getting out of the class.

Comcast is coming out on Saturday morning, once again, to look at my internet and phone problems. As far as I could tell, the man I spoke to mumbled something about modem problems, so that seems to be the direction their thoughts are going in at the moment. The guy irritated me a little bit though. He told me that I needed to have an alternate number where the driver could reach me if my home phone was out, otherwise he wouldn't come. I don't have a cellphone and I'm certainly not buying one just to have for this one situation. What do they expect? I very carefully did not give the guy the full force of my disdain, but did explain that the last time they were supposed to come out, my phone had been out of order and they had been asked to just give a beep when they got here. No one said anything about it being a problem that time, so it shouldn't be a problem this time. He settled down after that, but the man was a bit of a moron. After confirming that pm visits were best for me, he tried three different morning slots. *pets poor moron and offers him a cookie*

Mondays are loooong days. I can certainly get more done now that I don't have work in between classes, but I gotta say, being on campus for more than twelve hours at a stretch is just a bit much.

They live in a strangely skewed world, I think, where words don't mean the same things as they do to the rest of us.

Good for you to find enough compassion to offer a cookie rather than well-deserved disdain to Comcast's moron. You didn't lace the cookie with any toxic substances, now did you? That would not be very nice. Deserved, perhaps, but not nice!

I was very restrained and put no poisonous substances in the cookie (or did I?).

Congrats on your generosity...I was unable to contain my full didain at Verizons inept Tech Support crew. And you are well spoken, eloquent and articulate.

I'm impressed with your response to the Comcast moron. Perhaps if we treated them all like sort of limited three year olds we'd do better. Congrats also on the good experience with the presentation. I think your group recognized a winner when they saw one!

I suppose that's where my skill set comes into play. I can treat anyone like a limited three-year-old, lol.
