Bored now.

Tried to do an FTP lab today and unsurprisingly ran into trouble. I followed all the steps in the tutorial and when I tried to transfer the files I was told there was 'no room on the object' whatever that means. Which means I get to stay after class tomorrow to do it. Yay. *is underwhelmed with excitement*

Had my library and archives preservation class today - I think it's officially my least favorite class, mainly because I don't like the instructor all that much. I hope the digital preservation class next semester is better.

Registration for next semester starts tomorrow. I'm taking four classes, nearly all specifically archives related, except for dig. pres. All day classes. Which means, yay! I'll get to do Comics next semester, at least semi-regularly. I'm sadly excited about that.

generally, that means that your destination is full, or if the software is especially cheap, that you may be pointing at a document and not a file, so it won't let you overwrite it... you'ff figure it out... really ;)

My destination was full, despite the fact that there was nothing there. I'm still a little vague on how that works, but the help desk person gave me more room and I was good to go. :)

I took digital preservation! It was a little dry, but very informative.

One thing that was nice was that we had a few hands-on assignments and small field trips to see Pitt's various digital preservation projects in action.

That sounds pretty similar to Library and Archives Preservation, which is what I'm taking this semester. Some hands-on activities (this week we got to count the frames on a reel of microfilm as part of an activity) and several field trips (we went to the University Art Gallery at Frick Fine arts last week and learned all about exhibits).

The comics miss you, and we need the filth as well. :)

Oh well, I'll start stockpiling the filth then. By January I should have a nice steaming pile. ;)

I'm hope the FTP lab goes speedily and you get home early enough to relax a bit before bed. :)

Once I got the problem resolved, it went very quickly indeed. It takes about three seconds to transfer a file with FTP. It takes considerably longer than three seconds to come up with several paragraphs of text about transfering a file, however. Bullshit is never as easy to come by as I'd like.

Ah, if only more people had that problem! :)

I use to transfer by FTP when I was taking my SAS programming class. Of course I know longer have any idea how I did it, or any idea how I did the SAS programming, either!
