I'm not a big coffee drinker most of the time. Or at least, when I drink coffee, I drink decaf. But the past few days I've been doing the fully caffeinated thing. And boy am I gonna suffer for that one of these days probably coming up like twenty minutes ago.

Two cups of regular coffee today. That's two cups in a twelve hour period. The second cup just wore off and I'm crashing hard. You know, sudden sweats, shaking, exhaustion.

The cure: Lots of cold Mac & Cheese leftovers, several handfuls of raisins, and a cup of Earl Grey tea. The sweats have gone, the shaking is easing up and I can type again. Time to get back to work.

Edit: Dude, once you start making stuff up, the paper goes much faster. Just saying.

The trick is to keep the amount of caffeine in your blood at a constant level. Stay on top of that wave- if it starts to break, drink another cup of coffee before you wipe out!

The really important lessons

This may be the most important thing I learn while on this little jaunt through grad school. Not how to be an archivist or how to properly research a paper. No, the most important thing I will learn is how to keep myself properly caffeinated so that I'm not running laps from the sheer excess and not crashing and burning from the withdrawal.

Hope the shakes aren't too bad - but for grad school, you just have to have coffee!
