Omg! I have so clearly lost all tolerance for alcohol. I had one drink. One! (and a tiny bit of a second one that I didn't come even close to finishing) and it's nine o'clock and all I want to do is go to bed and sleep it off.

On the other hand, I had a lot of fun getting pretty damn close to drunk off my one lone drink. [livejournal.com profile] eve11 kidnapped me after work today and took me along to happy hour with her and her work buddies. I slurped down a screwdriver rather too quickly, on an empty stomach, and then just let the world spin around me. I flirted with a guy. He may not have realized I was flirting with him, since my flirting is equivalent to a normal person being, you know, normally social, but still. I flirted with a guy. I talked about javascript. I don't actually know anything about javascript, but that didn't stop me from talking. And now, I think I must go to bed, even though it is ungodly early in the evening, because I'm too tired to concentrate on anything and there is no tv to watch.

P.S. I have holiday cards, and they will be sent out, hopefully tomorrow. They may get to you all a little late, but they are coming, I promise.

I think I did actually sleep reasonably well last night. Now, if only it wasn't still pitch black outside, I'd feel more happy about it being morning. :)

It's not that screwdrivers are so potent, it's that I slurped it down really fast on an empty stomach. By the time the food arrived, it was much too late. Salsa and Meringue dancing sounds like fun. :)

yeah slurping is not good on an empty stomach-- pretty...sick-inducing (fro me at least) :p
My friend kinda persuaded me to dance...but yeah it *was* kinda fun. ;)

heh. Not only did you talk about javascript, but you were offered a job just for being willing to learn it... ;)

Ten years ago, when I was going out with friends on Sat. nights, we would occasionally meet up with my friend S's boyfriend's group of friends and hang out with them. I never once found a single thing to say to any of those guys - they intimidated the hell out of me and I sat silent and (I must admit) sulkily in a corner every time it happened. I thought it was just me and my total inability to relate to other people. Turns out they were just the wrong crowd. It's good to know. :)

Today's my nine o'clock day. Which means I leave the house at quarter to eight in order to catch a bus that leaves early enough to allow me to stop at the coffee shop before work. It's a weird system, considering how much I loathe being up early, but it works for me.

If it makes you feel any better, I had one glass of champagne at my book club meeting last night and it had just about the same effect on me as your one screwdriver!

Re: this book group. They sure do seem to take the refreshments seriously. Last night we met at the home of Oxford City Schools' actually French French teacher, and the food and drink were really over the top! The discussion of the book, on the other hand, was almost non-existent. It seems we spend more time at each meeting debating what we should read for the next meeting, than discussing the book we've just read. It's very strange.

so more of a book reading circle than book discussion group. As long as the refreshments are good...
