Okay, the pink navbar, very distracting. But hey, someone sent me candy hearts! Thank you, anonymous friend. *nibbles one and puts the rest out to share*

I'm bored, so I'm watching SGA. Phantoms to be exact. Mm, Sheppard's butt looks particularly nice in this episode. And yes, clearly this is the commentary of shallow.

Okay, at this point in the season, I was already so tired of Carson being sent out on every mission with the team, so when I watch this episode, it's always Make Fun of Carson time. First up, they're checking out the dead Genii on the planet where Major Leonard's team has gone missing.

Rodney: So, they killed each other?
Carson: Aye, quite possibly. And by the looks of it, in a violent fashion.

Yes, because very often when people kill each other with guns and knives, they do it gently and softly, with whispered words of care and tenderness.

Although it's better than it was at the beginning of the season, Joe Flanigan is still going with the really stiff, weirdly awkward body movements from time to time. What's up with that?

Once again, Rodney has the best lines. As they're carrying the dead members of Leonard's team back to the gate:

Rodney: *out of breath* Can we stop for a second?
Sheppard: *gruffly* No.
Rodney: Look, I mean no disrespect but this guy's heavy and ever since I was shot in the ass by an arrow I've been prone to sciatica.
Sheppard: *makes angsty face*
Rodney: No?

Oh, Rodney, I do love you.

Teyla and John have such a great dynamic when they're being all brother-sister like in this episode. Teyla can kick John's ass, he knows it, plus, she's almost always right, so she's often the only one who can get through to him when he's off being stupid-stubborn. Not even her clear-headedness can keep him thinking clearly here, though, and so she's left injured and immobile with a team leader who's suddenly talking to people who aren't there. I really, really want an episode of Teyla love. I keep waiting for it and the writers keep not giving it to me. When are we gonna get the Teyla episode, damn it!?

It's almost always fun to make fun of John's utter inability to find his way on ground, and even Holland, slowly bleeding to death, can laugh at him. John just makes a little face and goes about his business as if he meant to bring them straight to the Taliban.

The end is a bit of mixed bag. The banter between John, Rodney and Ronon about Sheppard shooting them is pretty funny, and I especially love seeing Ronon laughing about it. He lightened up so much after Sateda, and it's great to see him being more boyish and less driven. On the other hand, when Kagan was first wounded Carson told Sheppard he would die if help didn't come within minutes and now, oh well, he's recovering just fine, no one needs extra help and Carson is going to take care of them all by himself. Okay, I can get that Carson might have already been suffering the effects of the generator, but Kagan was looking pretty grim when Sheppard came out to find him and Carson in the woods. It felt a bit like a cop out on the writers' part. "Oh, we've told the story we want to tell, now we can just wave our hands and make everything else go away." Sloppiness.

It's a fun episode to watch, if for no other reason than to make fun of its faults. I was really disappointed the first time around, because we'd been promised some Sheppard backstory and what we got didn't really tell us anything new or personal. But we got to see Rodney doing his geek thing (which I love) and Teyla got to show restrained panic in the face of her teammates going completely off the deep end without her. So, all in all, more good than bad.

Poor Carson. Always given the dumbest exposition.

In conclusion, shep hawt.

I concur on the lack of Teyla episodes. I've really warmed to her since the first season, and I wish the writers would give her something to do!

And I love Carson, but he does get the dumbest lines.

I really hope that at some point we get a whole episode of Teyla love. She so deserves it.
