Okay, I've got some pictures from the party. Or, to be more accurate, [livejournal.com profile] eve11 has posted them and sent me a link.

Party Pictures

There are a few pictures of my costume near the top, and then one more down below in the 'Chicks with guns' section. The first few pictures were taken very late at night, my wig was askew and my costume was not looking at it's best, but you can see it pretty well. The bodice looks very loose and shapeless in the first picture, but it actually fits much nicer than that. The only part I didn't make myself was the blouse. In the last picture (with the gun) I'm wearing a cloak that was lent to me by a very kind elf. A cloak of my own will be my next sewing project.

You look absolutely great! I'm so proud of you! (((hugs))) I love it when people learn how fun it can be to have something to wear that they have made themselves. If you are planning to make a cloak, I reccommend you go to the library and get a book called The Folkwear Book of Ethnic Clothing by Mary S. Parker. It has a pattern for a burnoose that is actually a hooded cloak, and very simple and easy directions for making it! Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely look that book up when the time comes. There is a LotR costuming site that I got most of my resources from, but they don't have much help to give when it comes to cloaks.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun (if by fun you understand that I mean stress and confusion, as well as fun) to make.

I can't sew on a button so I was really impressed! The confussion is something that I understand, I just don't have any clue how sewing can be fun. LOL I do imagine that it was fun showing it off and getting to say that you made it yourself. Now that sounds like fun!

Thanks! It's a pretty simple pattern and yet, due to my total lack of seamstress skills, it was still plenty challenging for me.
