I've actually managed to do normal, weekend housekeeping things today. Went grocery shopping at the Giant Eagle instead of RiteAid for the first time in a couple of months (don't ask how I've been living, you don't want to know), bought a roll of quarters and I'm steadily making my way through the back log of laundry, got all the dishes washed, tidied up and weeded out the giant pile of papers that had taken over the living room floor. There's still a lot of work to do before the apartment is actually clean, but it's so much better already and I feel like I can actually breathe in here again.

Spring started really early this year and then was put on hold for the better part of a month while cold and wind and winter made a last, futile effort to maintain their hold. That hold has been broken for good now (I think) and all the spring activities are resuming. Flowers everywhere, bees buzzing, trees blooming and budding and putting forth fresh, green leaves. The sky is bright blue and it's warm. My windows are wide open which means Thor's in seventh heaven - there's nothing he likes more than sleeping in a sunny window ledge.

I'm in a fantastically good mood. Somewhere along the line I have to remember to work on this week's presentations, but at the moment I'm not too worried about them. I'm more interested in getting my hot little hands on this week's episode of Doctor Who.

Depending on the Giant Eagle, Rite Aid might actually be an improvement. :-)

I was massively bummed that Trader Joe's opened four weeks after I left Pittsburgh. My parents have one near them, and love shopping there.

I haven't ever been to the Trader Joe's here, although I know folks are all very excited about it. When I was in Boston a couple of weeks ago, however, my sisters and I stopped in one there to see what all the fuss was about. It looked a lot like Whole Foods and the East End Co-op.

The Giant Eagle in Squirrel Hill isn't great, but it's better than the one I used to go to in Oakland, many years ago. That one was the nastiest grocery store I've ever been to.

What about the Market District one between Aiken and Negley? It's the closest one to me and kind of rocks my world. :) (The 64A stops pretty close to it.)

Cool! That was just opening when I left Pittsburgh. So it's a good one?

That one would require two buses to get to, which is way more effort than I usually expend on food, considering the only reason I ever make to the Rite Aid even, is that it's right at the bus stop where I catch the bus home after work. I may have to check it out sometime though. Possibly when I'm heading out of Oakland I could take a detour that way. :)

Was it the one on Center Avenue and Neville? That was pretty nasty. As for the one in Squirrel Hill, I didn't appreciate it until I left. The Kosher food sections of the stores we have here suck.

The one on Center and Neville was pretty bad. I used that one for several years when I lived in N. Oakland. The one I was referring to, though, was the one that used to be on Forbes Ave next to where the Wyndham Hotel is now. That one was pretty skanky. But I lived in S. Oakland and back then the Pitt ID didn't get you free bus rides, so I didn't have any other reasonable options. The Sq. Hill store is wonderful in comparison. :D

Yay for accomplishing lots, and for good moods. :)

Glad you are having a weekend when you can finally take care of your own life instead of frantically working on school work! I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get to the real grocery store instead of subsisting on overprice crackers or whatever you were able to get at Rite Aid!

Hang in there for one more week!
