Ah, just finished watching this week's Doctor Who. I like this one. Came to the end and was totally unprepared for the cliffhanger ending. I like the concept of the Doctor downloading himself into the watch and reprogramming his biology - and yes, okay, maybe it involves an extra-large helping of handwaving in order to be believable, but this is Doctor Who, none of it's believable. It had what I consider to be the main hallmark of a good episode, in that I was so caught up in it that I had no idea we'd come to the end of the forty-some minutes when all of sudden the end music began to play and those three dreaded words came up, 'to be continued.' My only gripe is that Martha is still clinging to her unrequited crush. But I don't suppose that will be going anywhere anytime soon. Anyway, I'll be sure to tune in next week for the exciting conclusion. *g*

*sigh* I lost my connection to the downloads three weeks ago, and now I'm going to have to wait for the DVDs... But I hope that they don't leave Martha hanging forever. I like Martha! Lots!

I like Martha, too. She's got a lot going for her and the writers have done a good job of making her a totally different person than Rose, but they've made the mistake of going the 'she's a girl, of course she's in love with the Doctor' route. Kind of annoying.

Having not seen the last couple of episodes, I'm not sure where they've taken it, but I actually don't see Martha as "in love" with the Doctor as much as I see her wildly curious about the possibilities at first, and wanting to make him "better" once she realizes just how badly he's been wounded by the loss of his planet and his people. I think she understands what he doesn't, that he is the type of person who needs to be connected to someone, anyone, in order to keep his balance. The fact that they share a bent of mind (even if he has more data to go on) only helps. She loves him, but that's not the same thing as being "in love" and she's smart enough to know it.
