Well, isn't this fun. I've got all the pieces cut out for the nun's habit, and started putting it together. I didn't have time/money to make a muslin mock-up first, so I went by the sizing instructions on the packet and crossed my fingers. It looks like now I'll have to go on a bit of a diet between now and D*C. The habit will fit, but it'll be a little more snug around the rear than is seemly for a nun. *sigh*

You should be okay; the white apron-thingy goes over the habit anyway, right?

I experimented with adding panels in the sides and that seems like it will work well.

It's coming along well - the most complicated part of the whole habit is the neck piece (key-shaped fabric and interfacing that gets stuck onto the neck opening). It's very fiddly. The bit that will take longest is sewing up the side seams, especially as I'll have to do double because of the added panels, but it will be easy/brainless work.

You don't have to spend too much time making the neck look nice since it's going to be covered up anyway by the apron and then the outside collar, right?

This all sounds way beyond my seamstress abilities, which tend to be challenged by the occasional need to sew on buttons. I'm sure your costume will look great, though, and it sounds like you're kind of having fun with all the figuring out how to do it bits. I can't wait to see photos!
