In search of the perfect distraction

I'm in a pissy mood (let's just say, based on how much my job is willing to pay me this year, I'm no longer feeling guilty that I might have to abandon them mid-contract), so I thought I'd post a cute Mal pic instead of going on a massive whine/rant. Then I found a few other odds and ends to post as well.

My face in UltraCal. It looks less hideous in real life (this is true for me in general - I don't photograph well).


The fabric laid out for the nun's habit, with the pattern attached. It takes up nearly the entire length of my living room.


The finished neck. This was the most fiddly bit and it's not perfect, but it will do (especially considering it will never be seen again - it hides under two other layers).


And, as promised, cute Mal. He was sitting on the coffee table, attempting to stretch up to see onto the ironing board, in preparation of jumping up. I was trying to distract him and every time I clucked or scolded, he hid his face.

I must get cracking on the sewing part of this here costume. Bah.

I also want to have enough time to practice makeup for the cat-face. We'll see how that goes...

I got a lot of work done on the cat face today, but that means I didn't do any sewing, and I still have so very much sewing to do. *sigh* Somehow it will all get done, although I may still be sewing at the hotel on the Friday, lol.

It would be a lot easier if I didn't love to do the costuming thing, but planning it all out and putting it together is so much fun. As is wearing it on the day, of course. The first time I went to a con in costume I felt really awkward and uncomfortable at first, but pretty soon I was addicted. :D

Yuck! Money troubles ... at least that might help you to feel gung ho about the job search process once you get back from Dragon*Con.
