So, my big plans for this weekend are cleaning, working on my resume, getting signed up on some listservs and maybe even getting some job applications out. I also have babysitting tomorrow evening, which is good for my D*C impaired bank account. Then I realized I had planned to start volunteering at the History Center this week. It's been a month since I finished my internship and I really need to get back to work on the collection I was working on. This idea just filled me with despair. My apartment is still a debris-strewn nightmare from the pre- and post-trip insanity and needs much love and attention this weekend in order to not be hideous. Plus, I really, really need some quiet, still, fic-reading down time in order to not implode. So I'm going to wait until next week to return to archives work.

I got three two-serving, microwavable lava cake-type cake things from work today. So good with a little (or you know, a lot) of ice cream on top, mmm. So not the way to start that diet, but hey, Friday night, loooong work week (the short weeks are always eons longer than the regular work weeks - seems kind of unfair, but totally a law of time and space).

Sleeeeepppppp, my body calls to me. It's nine o'clock on a Friday night, don't you want to go to sleeeeeppppppp? No, I answer. There has to be something fun to do on a Friday night. I could stay up all night reading fic - haven't read any fic to speak of in weeks, due to the costuming extravaganza that was the buildup to D*C. Surely there are tons of great stories out there that are just crying to be read. But, my body whines, that would require some minimal level of concentration which is clearly beyond us at the moment. Just go to sleeeppppp. Wait, I argue in desperation, what about dvds? I've got season two of Buffy. No? We could watch Smallville again. No? Supernatural torrents? Farscape? Pretty, pretty Firefly? Sleeeeppppppp, sleeeeepppppp, close your eyes and sleeeepppppp.

Who will win the battle of wills? Stay tuned for the further exciting adventures of Meesh and the Sleepies.

You clearly put up a better fight against the sleepies than I do. I was saved from the ignomious fate of being asleep by 8:30 pm by a just-in-time phone call from LP. After talking to her for awhile, I managed to read for another hour, keeping me awake until 10:00p.m. It's all those days of getting up at 5:00 am.

I refuse to go to bed early (except in cases of monumental headaches or other illness) because no matter how sleepy I may feel, I know that sleep won't actually come until close to midnight, regardless. Mainly because I sleep until eight or so every morning (I love my 10-6 schedule with a passion).
