It's another in a long line of unbelievably gorgeous days out there. This morning a friend and I went to the North Shore to check out the Head of the Ohio Regatta. Sadly, I was suffering from sinus grumpies and wanted nothing more than to find some coffee somewhere. Thus began the Great Coffee Quest, ultimately fruitless. The Northshore Riverfront Park, where the Regatta took place, is along the strip of river fronting PNC Park and Heinz Field. It seems as though people who partake of sporting events are more interested in beer than in coffee, because while several restaurant/taverns were open, there wasn't a single coffee shop to be found. And the 'vendors' that the announcer guy kept going on about seemed to be limited to one Spaghetti Warehouse tent with a ridiculously long line, and t-shirt stalls. The rowing was fun to watch, although I know nothing about the sport and would never have even considered it as an appropriate form of Sat morning entertainment if my friend (who rowed in school, once upon a time) hadn't invited me to join her. There were tons of pretty, pretty boys to look at, muscles all ripply, wearing tiny little skin-tight clothes that hid pretty much nothing, so it definitely wasn't all a loss.

This afternoon there was babysitting. This involved walking to the playground, where Rica and I climbed a tree and hung out for a while. This was very fun, as I haven't climbed a tree since I was fifteen. Things were going swimmingly until we suddenly and urgently had to run home for Rica to use the bathroom. We spent the rest of the afternoon lazing around her backyard, cloud-gazing (on my part) and finding ticklish ways to torment others (on her part). I haven't laid around in the grass like that in nearly as long as I've climbed a tree, so it was equally enjoyable.

Now safe at home, I foresee an evening of dvd watching and nose-blowing. Sadly, all the lovely fun of the day was somewhat marred by a headcold that I've picked up from the kids at work.

beautiful icon! And it sounds like a great day with the exception of the lack of coffee at the regatta. Who knows, maybe one of these years our own Ant Bee will be competing in one of these things and we can plan a big family get together to cheer her on (and bring big thermoses of coffee, too!)

Yeah, I thought about Ant Bee this morning. It's a pretty big event, with teams coming all the way from Michigan to compete, but they also have a lot of novice events. So maybe we will indeed have an excuse to gather.

Well, the cold has settled in pretty nicely, so I'm guessing it's here for a week or so. I think today is going to be a very indoors, quiet time. Thank goodness for dvds. :)

Sounds like a pretty good day to me. I've had a sinus headache all day so I've pretty much just been laying around today. Glad someone at least got to enjoy the lovely weather.

Its even worse today. My right (bad) eye wont even open right now. I think a lot of my sinus problems come from the accident that hurt that eye when I was a kid.

I'm probably getting a sinus infection. Today isn't a major problem, other than I don't feel good enough to go down to see my son. He's having a party tonite anyway, so it wasn't the best day to go anyway. I hope its better before I go back to work tomorrow.
