So, the four-year-olds love to play Superheroes. Most of the time, most of them are Spiderman. He's a very popular one with the kids (I have to admit, he's my favorite, too). But today they were branching out.

M (the only girl in this group): I want to play.
L: You can be Bat Girl or SuperGirl.
M: I'll be SuperGirl.
N: I'm Superman.
L: I'm Batman. Who are you? *asking I*
I: I'm Terry McGinnis.

Me: ...?

A few minutes later, as they all go racing by, I ask each of them who they are and they all say the same thing. Except, I says: I'm Batman.

Me: Oh, but earlier you said Terry somebody. Who's that?
I: *looking at me as if I'm the biggest idiot ever* Terry McGinnis. He's the new Batman.

I have clearly lost all credibility as a lover of superheroes amongst this crew for being so pitifully idiotic. I didn't even know there was a new Batman.

I guess I can hand my FCG badge in as well, after this. I'll become one of those people that are never mentioned again, for the shame of having previously known them is too great.

It's the Batman from Batman beyond ie. a future Batman who was (or more accurately will be) tutored by Bruce Wayne. So maybe he is Batman, but he isn't yet. Are you following me Sarah Jane? =D

Yeah, I did a little research when I got home from work and figured it out. I have, of course, heard of Batman Beyond, just haven't ever watched it or paid it any mind (Batman is my very least fav superhero).

I'm a bit of a "past" person, not a future person myself. I've always been fond of the Justice Society of America. Of course, most of the "real" JSA are dead now, though, the way DC runs things, that could change tomorrow...

For Halloween we had about five Supermans, twin Batmans, one flaming dude from Fantastic 4 with impressive stuffed muscles, but no female superheroes.
Overall, though, I felt very protected with all that toddler superheroage around.

We didn't have a ton of superheroes at school - in our room we had two Spidermen, a Buzz Lightyear, Zorro, two Knights, a Thomas the Tank Engine, a Dragon, and I can't remember for the life of me what the last boy was. The girls consisted of one monkey, one elephant, one fairy, one ballerina, and something like nine princesses.

I suppose I'll need to be excommunicated as well...I didn't know who Terry McGinnis was, either.

I had to go into research mode as soon as I got home and look him up. It just struck me as hilarious that this kid would choose to be, not Batman himself, but his alter ego. :)

*huggles* Who Terry is, others explained already. Hubby still watches Batman Beyond, Terry is actually kinda cute and a bit rebellious, I think you like it!
