After a very lengthy hiatus, there was running today. And there was much joy and celebration. We went after work instead of in the morning. I don't know if that was the difference or just a coincidence, but I felt much looser than usual, and I didn't have to suffer through two laps of gradually loosening muscles - the run felt good right from the getgo. And I made it the two full miles without walking at all, for the first time. Of course my knee started getting cranky about a half mile in, so it's pretty sore now, but I felt really good about the run. *big grin*

I like working out later in the day rather then morning. First I'm not a morning person and second I feel like my body is a lot looser.

Yeah. Tomorrow we're doing a morning run again and it will be interesting to compare the results.

Two miles of straight running! Hurray for you! You'll be ready for a 5K in no time!

Can you plan for afternoon runs more often? Different people really do have different preferred exercise times that can have a major effect on performance.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty confident that if I can overcome the crippling knee pain I experience sometimes I should definitely be ready for a 5K by spring. Even with the random knee pain, if I just don't run for a week before any race, I'll be able to run.

Now, speed is a different matter - I'll almost certainly come in dead last, but I'll be able to run the whole way.

woo hoo!

That answers my heat or ice question. One of these days I'm going to have health insurance and then I'm getting this knee checked out to find out exactly what's wrong with it.
