Well, Christmas has come and, as it is wont to do, Christmas has gone.

I've spent the past several days in the most lazy manner possible, curled up in a corner of my little sofa, reading fic, playing Spider Solitaire and watching DVDs. The downside of all this delightful leisure is some killer neck pain from being all twisted up on the sofa trying to read fic and play Spider Solitaire. I've had to relocate, today, away from the tv and the dvds. *sigh* Oh well, this means I get to stretch out on my little bed to do the same things.

I woke up this morning to the sound of my new coffee maker happily burbling away as it brewed me a fresh, hot pot of coffee. My sister (who had me in the family exchange) got me the perfect little 4-cup, programmable coffee maker. Isn't it cute?

At the moment I'm forced to brew hideous Starbucks blend coffee in it, because that's all that Rite Aid had in decaf style, but that will soon be rectified and then I'll be in real business. *grins*

I got some great stocking stuffers, too. [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl spoils me, I think. A book, an evergreen scented candle (made my apartment smell like Christmas), a CD (a Putumayo Kids collection, which I'm eager to take into work), a little puzzle, some cute magnets (with cartoony cat faces) for the fridge and even some chocolate. It was so much fun to open all those things one after another.

Of course, the main point of the holiday, spending time with the family, had to take place more virtually than in reality. Over the past four or five days, I've talked with most of my sisters (I need to call [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl), my mom and my aunt at least once and some of them several times. I even had a decent phone conversation with Younger Brother, proving that the truce is still in effect.

In other news, as I mentioned in comments a few days ago, I'm actually writing hobbit fic. I've written a little over a thousand words of 'Luster', and one of my goals for today is to make some serious progress on it. I've decided to not post anything until I've got the whole thing finished, but I'm hopeful that this will be done by the weekend. I am quite determined that it not languish as one of those forever unfinished WIPs.

And for those of you who, like me, think Mal is the cutest thing ever (yes, I realize I may be biased on this issue), there will be picspam later.

I should really make myself go out and do stuff, but relaxing at home is so much easier, lol. :)

Which is your favorite brand of coffee? Automatic coffee makers are sweet. Laying on the couch reading is even sweeter. :)

I don't really have a favorite brand of coffee - just a least favorite (Starbucks). I really liked the Peruvian stuff we had at the coffee shop I worked at a couple years ago. And I like Kona coffees. I don't like Costa Rican or Somalian coffee. But since my options are a little more limited than that, I'll probably pick up some Eight O'Clock Bean coffee or Green Mountain or something like that.

Oh boy! Mal picspam to look forward to!
BTW, when is a reasonable time to call Mr. Younger Brother? I'd like to call at a time when I might get more of a conversation than just a sleepy mumble.

Honestly, I have no idea when would be a good time to call YB. I only ended up talking to him because he was visiting [livejournal.com profile] griffins_mom while she was on the phone with me. That's one of the reasons I never talk to him.

Oh, that's right. You told me about that.
I may just decide that he has my number and can call me when it's a good time to talk!

More "Luster"! Looking forward to it. Also looking forward to the picspam of Mal.

I have become such a pathetic writer. Luster is moving so slowly I could outpace it in a snail shell. Three days and I've got less than two thousand words. I'm ashamed of myself. It is coming along, however, and I will finish the blasted thing before I go back to work. *nods*

LOL I hate when stories do that! They just seem to slow down or stop altogether. I have several like that and I also have several that are completed but after I finished them I didn't think they should be posted for one reason or another. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to write anything at all. Good luck with "Luster" but I know how you feel.

glad you liked the stuff and are having a relaxing work free time. I recently got a programmable coffee maker (grind and brew no less) too. Isn't it great!

Grind and brew, fancy! B also got me a grinder, so I'm all ready to have at the beans, but for the moment I'm working with pre-ground. That's apparently all they sell at Rite Aid. But I did get to the grocery store today and bought whole beans, so when the Starbucks acid trip is over, I'll have good Eight O'Clock beans to work with. :)
