Ringing in the new year

Happy 2008, y'all!

I don't really understand the need for people to go outside in the middle of a freezing cold night and ring cowbells and scream, just because our planet has once again successfully completed a revolution around the sun, but I guess that's just me. At least I managed to stay up this year, for the first time in a long time.

Geez, I really am a bah! Humbug! kind of person, aren't I?

Happy new year honey! And no you're not the only one: we always stay inside to watch the fireworks. Also because these Dutch really go bezerk around this time of the year with it.

I totally understand the noise and all when people are at New Year's parties, but it's just a little annoying when it's a quiet neighborhood, and all of a sudden in the middle of the night there's this great ruckus (even if I'm expecting it). Basically, I just don't like loud noises, I suppose.

Were the fireworks lovely?

Well, I only sort of went out. We watched the fireworks from my friend's balcony and didn't bother to go downstairs. And I was the first to go back inside, but I was shortly followed by my brother's girlfriend.

I'd actually kind of enjoy it if I could see fireworks from the porch. I kind of hate dealing with fireworks up close, but from a distance they're lovely. :)
