I called off work today and slept in until nearly noon. Between being wide awake for hours after going to bed, then a big storm sweeping through (howling wind, driving rain and some sort of gate or shed door repeatedly banging shut and sqeaking open) and then spending the early morning hours feeling like crap, I just couldn't bear to face work.

Hey, SGA beat out Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who for a People's Choice Award. Go Atlantis! The acceptance speech given by Jewel Staite, Joe Flanigan, David Hewlett and Rachel Luttrel was hilariously muffled, with everyone talking over each other and Joe hiding the award thing inside his jacket. *grins*

I hope the writers' strike comes to a satisfactory conclusion soon, because while I fully support the writers and want the AMPTP to give in, I also want my shows back. I'm so sick of repeats, and Netflix has a decent turn around time, but it still leaves me with more days without than with.

I hear you about the storm. We have a gardening cabinet in back that kept slamming open and shut. I propped a big metal flower rack in front of it this morning.

The problem, of course, is that I'm far too lazy to get up and see what exactly is banging around out there, in order to prevent it from happening. And I'm fairly sure it isn't any of the doors/gates in 'my' yard, so I couldn't really do anything about it, anyway. But this was not the first time it kept me up at night, and it probably won't be the last.

I just started doing Netflix a few weeks ago and at the moment I am getting one at a time but I am enjoying it so much that I am thinking of upping my limit. I took today off too. No storm, just hate my job and had to have a day that I didn't have to go there. Thank goodness for paid time off!

I'm doing two dvds at a time with Netflix and I'd love to upgrade more, but I'm stubbornly trying to stick to a budget.

I'm all about mental health days. Sometimes it's just really necessary to not be at work. :)

I am trying not to up my Netflix but it's hard to resist. Also I have a friend who gets FOUR at a time and I am very jealous. LOL

I'm sitting here now wishing I could call off tomorrow and I was off Wednesday!

I know exactly what you mean. I was lying in bed this morning, feeling tired and idly daydreaming about calling off sick again. I had to speak quite sternly to myself because yeah, one day a month is more than I like to take off - twice in one week would be way beyond okay. :)

I made it to work today but it was a struggle. LOL

Sounds like you needed the time off. Our neighbours' gate doesn't close properly anymore, so I know what you mean.

There's nothing like repetitive banging noises to keep you up at night. :)
