It seems I'm going to have to have a talk with Mal about who does and does not have computer privileges in this household. Last night I was happily listening to internet radio while getting ideas down for the prompts y'all gave me, when Mal comes along, steps across the keyboard and right onto the power button. Shut everything down before I even realized what had happened. Luckily, I was writing in a notebook, not on the computer, so I won't have to start all over, but still. Bad Destructo Kitten! Such a funny boy, that kitten. He would never make it as a show cat (even if they allowed mutt!cats in such things) - he's cute as a button, but along with being a bit chubby, he's got terrible comportment, if that's the word I'm looking for. Back paws are splayed out, front legs are set wide apart, big round tummy. I do love him, though, even when he does wake me up half an hour before my alarm goes off because he thinks I'm holding out on him (we're currently out of dry food and everyone is a little cranky).


Hey, I went running yesterday. First time since that one day during Christmas break when I realized the hills of my neighborhood aren't conducive to running and breathing at the same time. It was, as could be expected after such a long break, a really crappy run. But it was a start at getting back into it. I did seven minutes on an eliptical (treadmills were all taken already) and then jumped over to a treadmill when one opened up. Did another mile at a slow jog before being forced to a walk. I've begun to notice a consistent pattern with my knee. At half a mile it starts to twinge. By three-quarters of a mile it's getting pretty complainy and by a mile, I'm trying not to limp as I run. I didn't push the run as much as last time, so while the knee was pretty unhappy with me yesterday, it feels much better today (no middle of the night pains like last time).

I thought you were talking about a significant other when I read that at first. I was getting really upset for you about some jerk coming over and turning off the computer. :) Glad to know it was just a kitty.

I would be a little pissed if a human-type person just came over and very abruptly turned my computer off. As it was, I was not too thrilled with the kitten-type person that did it, lol.

Congrats on getting back to running! I'm all for doing as much of it as possible on elliptical machines or treadmills. Less macho perhaps but it sure is easier on the joints! Speaking of which, have you tried using one of those elastic brace things on your knee? The other thing I suggest is doing seated leg extensions to build up the muscles on the outside of your knee. Good luck also on teaching Mal that the computer keyboard is not an acceptable kitty play space! When you figure out how to do it, let me know so I can start lessons with Minette and (especially) Gelosomina!

I haven't tried any of those elastic knee braces. I suppose I could give it a shot, but I hate spending money on stuff like that without knowing if it's actually going to do any good. One of these days, I'll have health insurance, then I'll ask my doctor about it.

I have very little hope of convincing any of the cat-types in the house that the keyboard is not an acceptable play space. But I will keep trying, and if I have any success, you'll be the first I tell.

I'm just hoping they let me sleep tonight, because I'm pretty much exhausted. Mal seems to be done with his late evening mad dash about the house, so it might be safe to start settling down.

Bad Meesh, really, for letting the laptop sit down on the bed where Mal can reach it - I've learned my lesson and fashioned a table of sorts to work from. :)
