a perfect example of why cheap doesn't alway equal good

So, one of the women at work very kindly offered to pick up some kitty litter for me the next time she was at Sam's Club. She was able to get a 35 lb tub of it for about the same amount I spend on a 14 lb box at CVS, so it seemed like a great deal.

Except, it turns out it's generic, not a multi-cat formula and has what seems like no odor control at all. So now I've got a really stinky apartment and even with cleaning the box frequently, the kitten is put off by the odor and doesn't want to use it. Which I found out the unpleasant way while staggering to the bathroom in the night. Looks like I'll be picking up some of the expensive stuff tomorrow after work. *sigh*

Do you still have the receipt? Don't hesitate to take back things that you can't use.

Well, I think the woman that picked it up still has the receipt, and since I've used a good ten pounds of it already, it's probably too late to take it back. But I think if I mix it in with the good stuff (which is what I did the first time around, mixing it with the last of the good stuff and there didn't seem to be a problem) it should work well enough to keep the cats happy and the apartment stink free.

I hate to complain, because the woman was doing me a favor - she knows I don't have a car and it's not easy getting these sorts of things in reasonable quanities for a reasonable price when on foot or taking the bus. But on the other hand, she clearly is not a cat owner and has no comprehension of the realities involved when buying kitty litter for a household that has three cats.
