So here I am, home from the job fair. As I feared, it was mostly pointless. I gave out some resumes and have a few other places where I should fill out online apps, but really, no one was interested in someone with a library/archives background. There were several child care type places and I spoke / left my resume with a few of them because they seemed to offer better pay/benefits, but I'm not seriously interested in getting a different child care job, so it was pretty much a bust.

My feet held up well in my Pointy Torture Shoes, so that was a good thing - no rubbed raw skin at all, although after the two hours I managed, the balls of my feet were screaming in agony. Still, if nothing else, I think I pulled off a fairly professional look.

I could change and go in to work for the rest of the afternoon, but they're not expecting me, and I seriously don't want to. So hey, an afternoon off for me. Yays!

I'm sorry that the job fair didn't have much to offer you - especially after you endured the pointy torture shoes to get there and walk around! But I definitely think you deserve to just enjoy the rest of the day! Going to work on a dayoff just really defeats the purpose!

At least now I know I don't need to waste my time with job fairs. It was a little discouraging to be around that many fresh-faced college almost-grads and 20 something job seekers, all bright eyed and ready to sell themselves to the highest bidder.
