Happy birthday, Destructo Kitten!

Today is Mal's birthday. My cute little kitten is a full year old. So to treat him, I put some new catnip in his scratching pad.











I'm a little worried though, he's winking a lot this evening. He may just have a speck of dust or something in his eye, but if it doesn't get better by morning, I'm gonna have to take him to the vet, make sure nothing's wrong.

I think he has some time to go before he outgrows kittenhood all the way. But yesterday I bought regular catfood - no more kitten food for him. He gets to eat what the big kids eat, now. Of course, I noticed that the food didn't disappear quite as fast as usual last night, so I guess it will take a little while for him to get used to his promotion. :)

The vet told me to switch Minette from Kitten food to adult food when she was 9 months old b/c supposedly she was already getting pudgy. She sure didn't look it to me at that point, when she was still in her leap tall buildings in a single bound phase of athleticism. Maybe the switch will help Mal to slim down a bit and retain his youthful enthusiasm for years to come!

Hopefully. He certainly is a bit on the pudgy side. Not hugely fat, but not slim, either. A bit like me, I suppose. :)

OK, just for the record, you are not even a teensy bit pudgy! You have an appropriate amount of meat on your bones and it is distributed very nicely upon your frame. I can go so far as to sympathize with a wish for slightly smaller tatas - beyond a certain size they just get in the way and you've inherited your mama's genes there - but there is no way that you can get away with calling yourself pudgy. Celebrate yourself and your beautiful curves! Just stay active and eat healthy and remember there are lots of skinny people in the cemetary who would kill for a piece of pie and a scoop of ice cream just about now!

I like that one a lot. Of course, if you look closely, you can see his legs are kicking - he's really going at it, but the way the pic came out, he looks like he's just cuddling.

I love that, as roly-poly as he is, he doesn't really look it in the photos.

I know, it's hard to believe. He's grown so much! He has proven to not be the small cat I was half-hoping he would be, but he's cute enough that I don't mind his great galumphing self. :)

The ability to share photos so easily and quickly is what I love most about having a digital camera. That and the ability to take a million pictures, see that most of them suck, delete those and not have to waste rolls of film on them. )

Whereas I see that most of them suck but can't bring myself to delete them in case I missed something! Leading me to spend many, many dollars on new memory cards! But the ability to post and share without printing is definitely one of the great, fantastic, stupendous and wonderful features of a digital camera!
