Something seems to have gone awry with the shuffle function on my iPod Shuffle, this morning. It was fine at the gym, but since then, it's played about five RHCP songs in a row, and is now on the third Men at Work song in a row.

My Winamp does that. If you were to look at my Last.fm file it seems I'm the biggest Fred Astaire fan ever, but that's all my Winamp likes the play. Very odd.

I was curious to see if it did the same thing during the walk home after work, but then someone offered me a ride, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see.

Hmm. It is true that what seem like orderly sequences of related phenomena will be produced from random sorting at certain unpredictable intervals ... but that does seem a bit odd!

It's happened before, to a certain extent - mainly that a particular artist will pop up fairly often, but never so many straight in a row before. At one point I think the thing was just skipping and playing the same song over and over, lol.

Ah, that should have reminded you of life with Youngest Brother. The time that I stayed with him while you accompanied Mom and Dad to T & N's wedding he set his CD player to play the same Sting song repeatedly all night long!

Yeah, he did that for a very long time. I think he just needed white noise to help him sleep, but he came up with a particularly obnoxious form of white noise.

My mp3 player does that sometimes, too. Like one day it'll decide that I'm really in the mood for nonstop jazz and play nothing but that. It makes me skeptical about this whole "shuffle all" function.

Yeah, it definitely never really includes all in the 'shuffle all' function, but it usually does a little better than today, lol.
