I seem to have broken my Comcast router/modem thing. It usually sits on the floor, but I'd put it up out of the way while I vacuumed. Somehow or other, it got knocked onto the floor, and now it's completely dead. This means my phone (my one and only phone) is also dead. Which makes it kind of hard to call Comcast and let them know I'm having trouble.

Luckily, I'm babysitting tonight. The kids are in bed, the hockey is on, and I've called the cable company. They've got me slotted for tomorrow afternoon (4-7) with a possibility of getting them between 8 and 10 am if someone cancels.

At the same time, I've been given three tickets to the baseball game tomorrow afternoon, with a 1:35 start time, which I'd love to use. However, in order to be home by four, I'd probably have to leave the game a little early. I'm told they're good seats, though, and I'd hate for them to go to waste. Stupid modem, getting in the way of having fun. *pouts*

ETA: *sigh* I'm just a dummy. I thought I'd checked all the cords and cables, but apparently the power cord I checked was the adapter for the laptop, not the router. Yep, it was unplugged. So, good news is, everything is all fixed up.

Bad news is, the Pens are in the process of being shut out by the Redwings. The Pens just haven't been able to make anything work tonight, they have about a minute left, and Ruutu just got himself sent to the penalty box. Not a happy night for the boys.

That's great they'll come out on a Sunday, but pooh about the ballgame.

(I don't know anything much about modems, but can't you just plug your phone into the jack without the modem?)

Well, the phone service is through the cable, rather than the phone company, so the wall jack doesn't do me any good. The phone has to be plugged into the cable router. On the up side, I found the problem and got everything straightened out, so the phone (and internet) is working again.

Bummer about the router. In a perfect world, the cable company would call you at 8 tomorrow, *actually show up* at 9, get it fixed by 10, and you would have time to invite people and go to the game by 1:35. Here's hoping for a perfect world.

Because my phone goes out along with the cable and internet, the cable company can't call before they come over, so the call would have involved them just showing up at some point. Luckily, I found the problem (I was looking at the wrong power cord when I checked all the cords), so everything is all hunky-dory and working fine now.

Too bad about the Pens - I watched the game right down to the last play. You know, I've heard that you shouldn't be worried about a loss til you lose in your own arena. If the Pens come back and win on Monday, they steal home ice advantage for the rest of the series (as long as they keep winning!).
