Have you ever noticed how insidiously the dark creeps up on you? I'm sitting here in my apartment watching some downloads on my laptop, the episode ends, and all of a sudden, I look around and realize my apartment is completely dark, save the light of the screen. I suppose that means I should take a break, turn on some lights, etc. My brother T always used to scold me for reading in the dark, and I never thought it was dark until he would turn the light on. I guess I haven't changed that much.

Anyway.

[livejournal.com profile] westwindschild came across something she wanted to share with you, and asked me to post it here. Superbad: Top movie supervillians. It's a pretty interesting selection of badguys/girls/things.

Slipping poisoned fruit to your competitors is wrong?

It all depends on who's telling the story. In the Queen's version, Snow White is a vacuous, insipid and dangerously incompetent child who would clearly drive the kingdom to wrack and ruin within years. Her poor father could never face that truth, and so the Queen did what she had to do to protect the interests of the kingdom she was serving. If that including slipping the stupid child a poisoned apple, well. Let's just say, the downfall of the kingdom can be placed squarely on those traitorous dwarfs and the interfering Prince from the neighboring kingdom (who truly got what he deserved, marrying the pathetic child out of some sort of misguided pity and then being forced to spend the rest of his life taking care of her).

Did you watch the Snow White remake a few years ago that starred Sigourney Weaver as the Wicked Queen and was told from her POV? Truthfully, I didn't, but your recap here sounds almost exactly like the synopsis I read of the movie! LOL

I haven't seen it. Haven't even heard of it, truth be told.

The villians are excellent. I just really love Magneto and the Wicked Witch from Oz scared the crap outta me when I was little. Sometimes she still scares me!

The Wicked Witch is crazy scary in Wizard of Oz. I always had to close my eyes when Dorothy was in the house during the tornado, and the bicycle lady turned into the witch.

I always got chills when she turned the hour glass over and said, "This is how long you've got to live!" That always messed with me.

Oh, geez, you are quick, Meeshie!!! Thanks for posting! I was particularly amused by the site's selection of The One Ring as a supervillain (especially after [livejournal.com profile] dreamflower2's essay about how it wasn't all it was cracked up to be). But I thought Magneto was an excellent choice. Never, ever has a supervillain been so hard to root against, IMHO!

Yeah, Magneto just has this vibe about him of troubled childhood, trying to protect his own, just going about it in the most damaging and messed up way possible. I think part of it is the fact that he and Xavier still so obviously care about each other, despite the fact that they are so firmly entrenched on opposing sides.
