Finally, a sliver of good news! I've got a phone interview next week. Or, to be more exact, I've got an offer of a phone interview next week and now I have to call the woman back and set it up.
Because this is me, there are obstacles to overcome.
1) I could barely understand my voice mail message, so I'm going to be spending the evening listening to it over and over until I've figured out the woman's name and the library she represents.
2) She wants to do it next Thursday afternoon, and ordinarily I'd just take that afternoon off work. However, one of my co-workers is on vacation next week and at the end of the afternoon I'll be the only one there. So I have to see if she can either schedule it earlier in the day, or call me at work to do it (really not ideal) or I'll have to tell the work folks that they just have to come up with someone else for Thursday afternoon, because I am not missing out on the interview.
3) This is my first interview for a library position, and it's a children's librarian position rather than archives (which I at least have some understanding of), so I'm very nervous about coming off as a completely incompetent idiot.
Now, I realize that this is just my first interview and I should approach it as a learning experience, with the full knowledge that I may tank it and even if I don't tank it, they may not think I'm the best candidate for the job.
But, that being said. I have an interview!!! I am exceedingly psyched about this.
eta: And to add to the good mood I'm in, I've got a dinner date on Monday with one of the Match guys. Who knows how it will go, but we're going to an Irish pub/restaurant in the South Side, so it should be very yummy food, regardless of anything else. *grins*

Date: 2008-07-24 11:33 pm (UTC)Now for the prep part. It's probably a good idea to do a search for "job interview questions" on line. It would be especially great if you could find some geared especially for libraries. And write down some questions to ask them, too.
Good Luck!
