Aug. 5th, 2008 09:10 amGood morning, world. It is a rainy Tuesday morning and I've just come from the gym. Still hate the ellipticals; still using 'em anyway. Last week sucked monumentally - one week off and I lost a ridiculous amount of ground - but I seem to be back on track this week. I didn't do any 'sprints' (for lack of a more appropriate word) but my overall speed was up, and I did a few alternating intervals with inclines and resistance (but never both together, because just, no). I also proved at least one design flaw in the new ellipticals the gym installed. The pause/reset button is right next to the button that switches the display from distance to strides/minute to total strides. Now, I suppose they figured that since it takes two presses of the button to reset, it wouldn't be a problem. Ha! I usually keep the display set to strides/minute, but to switch to distance requires two taps of the button. Which I did, only, not so much, because I hit the pause/reset button instead. D'oh! This was at just under 2.5 miles and it threw all my reckoning off, and inspiring a ridiculously disproportionate amount of rage in me. Sometimes I get absurdly angry over the silliest of things. Luckily, I was able to burn off the anger by the time I was done with the workout.
I've been re-watching the first couple seasons of the new Doctor Who the past couple of weeks. I think I have to say that the second season is officially my favorite, so far. I really like the combination of David Tennant and Billy Piper, plus I like most of the story-lines. Even when they are a bit daft.
I liked Martha in season three, but I kind of hated some of the story lines, and Martha never really found her true role until after she left the Doctor (and thus, for the most part, the show). She is absolutely at her best when not being distracted by her unrequited crush on him.
I also really, really like the dynamic between Donna and the Doctor, and some of the stories were pretty awesome, but again, some of them were just downright bad. And the way they ended Donna's story was just mean, resetting her back to who she was before she met the Doctor, before she had the chance to learn that she really was more than 'just a secretary.'
I think it will be interesting to see what they do with the Specials they have planned for 2009, and if they're able to come back in 2010 with fresh ideas (I fervently hope so).
Okay, so, that was a lot of blather. This is basically just me killing time, since I got to work a good hour early. Now I think I'll go off and work on those fic prompts you were kind enough to give me. *g*

Date: 2008-08-05 02:07 pm (UTC)And Martha. Oh Martha Jones. I honestly loved the character when they weren't harping on the Doctor crush because that bit was entirely stupid and unfair to the character. Although with what them reducing Rose to nothing but her love of the doctor I don't know why I'm surprised.

Date: 2008-08-06 01:12 am (UTC)Hope I get to go to something hateful at the gym tomorrow! (Considering how tired and hungry I am by the time I get there these days, my workouts have been pretty hateful lately. But the hateful workout days are still better than the no workout days!)
