I haven't been to the gym in about three weeks, and for some months before that my gym time was somewhat less than satisfactory, due to not being able to run much if at all.

Well, three weeks with no exercise whatsoever seems to have been enough to reset my joints to 'never been to the gym before' factory settings. This is both good and bad. The lingering knee pain I've been having since mid summer seems to be gone. I ran three miles (well, 2.8, technically - I walked a couple .1 mile segments the last mile) and the pain that has been plaguing me seems gone. However, I do have the other knee pain - the one that makes going up and down stairs less than delightful. However, this is a predictable pain. It always occurs the first few times I run after a long break. It should be better tomorrow (and then will hurt again after I run on Friday), and it will only do this for the first few runs before stopping altogether.

In other news, it's snowing this morning. Just little flurries, and I don't think we'll see any accumulation here in the city, but it made for a pretty if chilly walk this morning.

It sonds like it's snowing all over the world today. Here as well. I've been horrible going to the gym lately. I seriously need to do something about it.... Hope your knee gets better soon.

It really was snowing all over, yesterday. Now it's supposed to warm up to more seasonal temperatures for the weekend and I'm not complaining about that. ;)

An orthopedic surgeon recommended biking for my knees about 20 years ago, and whenever I feel my knees start to get tweaky, I get on the bike and it sure does help.

Of course, glucosamine/chrondroitin helps too.

Good for you, getting back to the workout!

I'll keep the bikes in mind next time my knee starts getting cranky. I should probably also start with the glucosamine/chondroitin, but I have a terrible time remembering to take things like that.

The pills are pricey, but my joints are much, much happier when I do take it.

Good luck with the knees!
