auntiemeesh: (pumpkin pie)

I'm stuffed.

I made it to the store this morning and bought all the fixins for a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner for one. Sliced deli turkey, cranberry relish, mashed potatoes, good bread, pie. Plus some Indian lentil curry and rice.

My feast was done left-over style, everything put together in a very tasty sandwich. Then some pumpkin pie. Then, after a good long rest for my stomach, some of the lentil curry (not excellent, but decent) and more pie.

The living room was too much of a disaster area to relax in, so I did some tidying and vacuuming before crashing into a food induced torpor. Took a little nap mid-afternoon but Tookie seems to have made it her mission in life to ensure that I never sleep, so she started licking my hair after half an hour. (She started licking, pawing and nibbling my head before five this morning and didn't let up until I finally fed her at eight-thirty. She won eventually, but I put up quite a fight.)

Did a little Netflix browsing this afternoon and found season one of Sliders on their Watch Instantly list. First episode, five minutes in and there's Gary Jones. With hair! Startling hair that looked like it might attack at any moment. Forty-five minutes in, there's Garwin Sanford. With the long hair that I don't like on him. Next time I watch I need to pull out the vodka and engage in a drinking game. Every time you see a Stargate/Atlantis actor, take a shot. If they've been on both shows, make it a double.

Anyway, it's not quite nine o'clock and way too early for bed, even if I am sleepy. I'm not sure what I'll do with myself the rest of the evening, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

I hope all you Americans out there have stuffed yourselves full of ridiculously yummy foods and are groaning every bit as much as me. All the rest of you, go eat something delicious just to join in the fun.

yay to thanksgiving day food and relaxation...sorry the book store was closed but it's nice to know those workers had a day off too.

It all worked out well in the end, so no great loss that the bookstore was closed.

Sounds like you had a good day. I especially like the idea of Lentil Curry rounding out your traditional Thanksgiving feast. I, unfortunately had to forego both turkey 'n' fixin's and lentils yesterday, due to a remarkably poorly timed bout of gastroenteritis. But I am feeling sufficiently better today to be reassured that that was all it was rather than something much scarier (like appendicitis, or an intussuss - whatever Minette had that I can't spell- or ovarian cysts or any of those things that require surgery.)

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

The lentil curry reminded me of you, and it seemed appropriate to have it on a holiday that we used to spend together most years.

I hope that by now you are all recovered from your poorly timed illness and managed to have some yummy food.
