The locksmith showed up at ten to nine this morning to fix my door. He did something to the strike plate so it should latch more easily, and then lubricated the dead bolt so I should be able to use it again.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think the door not latching properly has been happening since I moved into the place. For the first year or so, I always used only the deadbolt (which I had forgotten) and I think it might have been because the lower lock didn't work so well (my memory is fuzzy on all accounts). But then, in the cold months, the dead bolt would get so stiff and difficult to lock and unlock that I gave up on it, afraid that the day would come when I couldn't get back into my apartment after work. And by then, I had totally forgotten the original reason for using that lock in the first place. Sheesh, my memory is like a junkyard. Stuff comes in, floats around on the surface for a little while and then gets buried and decomposed to the point of non-existence, very quickly.

Nice that it was taken care of so quickly.

How did the cats react to the locksmith?
=D

Mal was locked in the bathroom for breakfast, so he never even knew there was anything going on. Tookie poked her head out for a moment, but she neither tries to escape nor particularly cares when strangers are about, so she didn't make any fuss. :)

I'm glad to hear that both the lower lock and the deadbolt have been attended to. Hope everything works fine now!

I suppose I don't stretch my memory enough, so it's become soft and flabby.
