Spring is up to its old tricks. We've had lots of cool, rainy days lately, which I would embrace wholeheartedly if not for the downside of being unable to take cranky children outside. Yesterday, when I left work the sky above was a beautiful blue, with a very dark, menacing cloudbank moving up from the west. By the time I came out of the grocery store it had overtaken us and was raining lightly. Then a little harder. Then all of a sudden a burst of hail (luckily tiny hail, so no harm to me or baby plants), then back to a gentle drizzle.

Day 2 of 14 on my no sweets or desserts plan. I see the potential for backfiring, but I'm continuing on, none the less. Problem is, I continue to feel hungry (or some state that my sweets addled brain interprets as hungry, at any rate) even after eating a big meal, because I haven't had that dessert. So then, in an effort to not feel like I'm starving, I go and eat more 'healthy' food. I ate a ton today. So the next thing, once I've kicked the constant desire for sweets, will be to work on portion control. One thing at a time, though.

Babies did nothing but cry this afternoon. I'm as exhausted as if I'd gone on a twelve mile hike, all up hill, carrying a heavy pack. It hardly seems fair that a couple of hours with screaming minions of Lucifer crying babies would leave me so completely wrecked. I am, in fact, pouting over this. *shows you pouty face*

One problem at a time, right? I've taken a page from your book and am giving up diet sodas, though I'm a day behind you on that. But I'll go the two weeks soda-less if you'll go sweets-less :)

Up for the gym tomorrow? My knee is still a little off so I don't know how well I'll do, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

As I'm sitting here eating my powerbar, I realize that some people might consider that a sweet. But I am not giving up my powerbar. It's the only thing that stands between me and a really ugly crash midafternoon.

Anyway, I applaud you on the decision to go two weeks without the diet soda. :)

Definitely keep the powerbar; it's made for energy. Of course, I bought milk at Entropy this morning and didn't realize until I got back that the "sell by" date was April 20th. And yeah, it was sour already so I just threw it away :( Ate dry cereal and a banana instead. We have a lunch meeting today that starts at 11:30 so I won't have to wait too long to eat, but I know I'm going to be hungry come this evening.

Also, it's kind of cold and cloudy out now, but they said it's supposed to be sunny this afternoon. Although the high is only supposed to be 57; it's tomorrow that's supposed to be really nice. I'm still up for chancing the outdoor big screen but we might have to retreat to a sports bar if it gets too cold.

This might be something you've already tried, but I found that having a small portion of fruit-flavored yogurt for "dessert" satisfied my sweet tooth and kept me from craving more sugar.

I went with a glass of orange juice last night, which serves pretty much the same purpose. Gives me something a bit sweet that is still healthy for me. Yogurt is definitely another option, though, except that CVS (the only store on a direct line between my house and work) doesn't sell yogurt. That will have to wait until I make it to the real grocery store over the weekend.

The brain is tricky when it comes to letting us think what we want is what we need. Good luck with the no desserts project.

The brain is, indeed, tricky. It tries to outfox me all the time, so I have to be on constant alert. :)

you can try a nice sweet apple like a gala to cover the sweet tooth.

Yeah, I have a couple of apples at home, but they leave me feeling really bloated after I eat them, so I might try to find something else.

Congratulations on day 2 of no sweets. I found that a nice cup of chai tea sweetened with Splenda and with alot of milk helped me over the sweet hump as well as the yogurt suggestion.
