Icon meme

Earlier this week, possibly on Wednesday, when I was having the worst day ever, [livejournal.com profile] slightytookish gave me some icons to explain in the current icon meme going around.

Merlin

This is my favorite Merlin icon. For me, his expression just captures the feel of the whole show. A little bit (okay, a lot) of magic and a whole lot of wonder, all mixed up in this clueless boy from the sticks.

Meme sheep

This is my 'I'm doing a meme' icon. To a certain extent, I grew up with sheep, until I was at least seven or so, and so I have fond memories of them (not being the one who actually had to take care of them and all). And this display of sheep made out of old telephones and phone cords just captured me, the first time I saw it. So I turned it into an icon, and I trot it out whenever I do a meme, because I am a meme sheep, baaaa!

Rodney

This is Rodney McKay, from Stargate: Atlantis, rhapsodizing over a ZPM (an almost impossible to obtain power source, on the show). It just captures what I love best about Rodney. His impossible glee over all the techy stuff that gives the rest of us headaches. His total obliviousness to his surroundings, his complete befuddlement over anything that has to do with the soft, squishy sciences, like dealing with people. But give him a piece of Ancient technology and he lights up and becomes a totally different person.

Weapon of choice - eyebrows

Teyla! Also SGA. I love Teyla. Her character is awesome and was so underused on the show. But she could communicate complete sentences with her eyebrows, and this icon captured that so well. Sadly, I don't ever really have a reason to use the icon, however.

Mwa ha ha

The third SGA icon in the set, this was given to me by [livejournal.com profile] wishkey. It's my 'mad laughter' icon. The humor is a little bit dark, just the way I like my humor (and my chocolate).

Dream -wtf

Finally, this is Dream, from Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels. I have a lot of wtf dreams, ones that are weird and wild but usually end up on the side of entertaining and amusing rather than scary (although much the same as my humor and chocolate, they are often a little on the dark side). I have two Dream icons, this one and another with a sadder picture, for when I'm feeling melancholy.

If you would like to play along at home, let me know in the comments and I'll pick six icons for you to explain.

I watched the most recent two episodes of Supernatural today. I seem to have trouble watching it on air lately (partly due to playoff season, partly due to falling behind and then not watching because I'm behind, thus falling even farther behind). All I can say is just, dude! I cannot imagine what next season's running theme is going to be, after this season.

Related to that, I was talking with a friend this morning and we were discussing the movies and shows we like. She has only watched one or two episodes of Supernatural, from season one, and didn't have a very positive impression of it. "Too campy," she said. "I like my main characters to suffer." I may have laughed in her face. I told her she should give it another try. Get through season one and watch the suffering start piling up in season two.

I don't think I've seen any of these icons in use, except maybe the last one. I'll play. Oh, and I wanted to ask, in the puddle jumper icon there's some very small text I can't make out. What does it say?

I don't use the SGA icons as much anymore, although I used to use the Rodney one a lot. I love the sheep one and use it when I'm doing memes. Some of the others don't get used very much. I have a lot of icons, but I tend to use only a handful of them most of the time.

I'm honestly not sure what the small print on the puddlejumper icon says (maybe something like use your head?). The icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] riekchen, if you want to ask.

Icons for you to explain:

I thought that the phones in the sheep pic were photoshopped on! So this was really a display? Like, made of dolls? Interesting!

BTW I got your email and will look over the fic as soon as I have a chance :)

Here's a link to the original article about the sheep art (http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/06/phone-sheep.php). It's pretty cool.
