As I sit here, staring at the computer screen with tired, gritty eyes, Zoe is giving me looks of 'entertain me.' Ha! With Tookie gone, I forgot what it was like to have a cat waking me up every few hours all night long. With Zoe here, I'm fast relearning that feeling.

She's very loud at night, talking to herself, Mal, me, who knows. It sounds very plaintive, but it's difficult to tell if that's how she's really feeling.

I went to bed early last night due to extreme tiredness (having been awake for large portions of the previous night) and was all relaxed and very nearly asleep when she started up. I'd had half an hour of almost sleep and then I was wide awake, so it was a while before I was able to wind down again.

And then this morning, at five-thirty, I heard some thumpings and bumpings and shovings around, culminating in suspicious food-crunching sounds (both the food bowls were completely empty - there should have been no crunching sounds). This was half an hour before I had to get up for work (already two hours earlier than I normally get up), but I dragged myself out of bed to see what she was eating. Yep, she was on top of the fridge chowing down on dry cat food she'd chewed through a new bag to get at. *sigh* Mal has always been such an earthbound cat that I never had to worry about the fridge before.

On a side note, Zoe may be lighter than air when she's flying up to some high surface, but when she's coming back down, she lands like a ton of bricks. THUD! She's very solid for someone as extremely skinny as she is.

Okay, I need breakfast before heading in to another long day of work.

Wow! Hope you can manage to Zoe-proof your home enough to catch some zzzzs.
