It's a gorgeous, bright sunny fall day here. Pittsburgh seems to be just about at the height of the fall foliage and the leaves turned some brilliant colors this year. I really should have gone out today and taken pictures, but I was far too lazy. It's warm and cozy inside, and there are kitties to watch and laugh at, and slippers and pjs to wear, and Doctor Who and Merlin to watch. Far more incentive to stay inside.

Zoe discovered the mantel this morning, and knocked half my pictures down (and looked darn cute while doing it). I suppose it's time to put some of those things away, since I'm never going to win the battle of keeping Zoe on ground level.

Mal is still slowly adjusting to this new presence in his life. This afternoon he got exiled to the bathroom for a while after he tried to take a bite out of my tuna sandwich and took a chunk out of me instead. He doesn't normally get so aggressive about my food, but I think he's feeling a bit threatened about things in general so when I gave him a little swat to the head to tell him no, he nipped at me. Unfortunately, he nipped a bit harder than usual, and my hand was moving at the time, so I have a bit more of a cut than I normally get. Still just a tiny scratch, but I think it took both of us by surprise. He hid under the bed when I first tried to grab him and he needed extra snuggles when I let him out. Poor guy, he's so used to being the head honcho around here and he just doesn't know what to make of things.

I talked to my Dad this morning. He calls every now and then, just to check in and make sure I'm still doing okay, which is kind of sweet if not a bit ironic considering how he's generally doing. But he sounded pretty upbeat today, which is not the norm. I told him I'd see him at Christmas, which will be the first holiday we've spent together for many years. Technically, I'll be staying at my Mom's but I'll make sure Dad gets included in the festivities in some way. This will be the first time I've gone 'home' for Christmas since my parents separately ended up in the Harrisburg area. It should be, well fun is perhaps optimistic, but good.

Thanks for the report on Dad. I haven't talked to him for some time and should probably make sure I call within the next month or so.

It was good to hear him sounding, well, not exactly chipper, but good. Upbeat.

It was a beautiful day here too. Unfortunately I was tied up all day with this and that so no outdoor time to speak of for me either.

I get a lot of outdoor time at work, at least when it's not raining, so I feel less inclination to go outside just for the sake of being outside on the weekends.

*hugs*

I hope you'll have a very lovely christmas together with your Dad. And enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves while you can. :D
