I'm starting a new diet today. According to www.calorie-count.com, if I limit my calorie intake to 1236 calories a day for seven weeks, I will reach my weight goal. It looks so simple and easy when put like that. Except, I have a feeling I'm going to find that 1236 calories is not very much at all. I'm not very good at being hungry. I tend to stop wanting to lose weight when I'm hungry. However, going to the gym isn't doing enough all on it's own, so I suppose I need to help it along.

Wish me luck.

Good luck! And on days when you do go to the gym, you can probably add calories.

Cereal is good to have. And portion control in general.

I'll be wanting to go to the gym everyday, just to have the excuse to add an extra two or three hundred calories to my diet that day, lol.

According to my new diet Bible, cutting calories will only work for a very short term. The best way to go is to go 48-72 hours on 1200 calories a day, then return to a normal diet of 2500 calories (consisting of sensible foods, of course). The cycle should not be repeated more often than once a month, preferably every 2-3 months. The increased caloric intake increases your metabolism, and limiting your fasting periods prevents your metabolism from slowing down. When combined with daily aerobic exercise and weight training, it is supposed to be very effective at dropping those nagging 10-15 pounds. If I ever get organized enough to actually follow the plan for a month, I'll let you know if it works for me! In the meantime, good luck - and anyway, you're perfect the way you are so try not to worry too much!

*sends hugs and happy thoughts*

This plan that I'm on looks at your age, weight, height, gender and level of activity to roughly determine how many calories you burn each day. Based on that, it tells you how many calories to take in, in order to reach your weight goal. Once you reach your goal, you start eating the same amount as you burn, in order to maintain.

I think this is actually going to be good for me because I really eat portions that are too large and this is forcing me to simply eat less. It's going to be very hard because I'm starving already, but it will shrink my stomach and that's what I need most.

Good luck with your plan, and if it works for you, you'll have to let me know. :)

Good luck! Taking in fruit to work helps me out when I get hungry (which happens a lot) and walking everyday turned out to be the best way of losing weight for me. I definitely agree that you can afford to eat more on the days you're going to the gym :)

Thanks! Fruit has so much sugar in it, that it's a bit calorie laden. :(
But I made it through today pretty well. I can drink a ton of tea, and diet sodas don't have any calories at all, while being pretty filling, but I don't want to get hooked on diet soda. That's going to have to be an emergency fall back plan.

*hugs*

Thanks, Boo! But I want to wear a Chiana costume at Dragon*con and I can't pull off that skintight look at the moment. Hopefully eight months is enough to work my butt off (literally). :)
