[livejournal.com profile] eve11 picked me up after work and we were off to the Waterfront. We stopped at Fuddruckers for supper (cheeseburger and french fries, nothing even remotely healthy). Then we crossed the street to the Loew's Theater to see Sherlock Holmes. This is the expensive theater, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn the weeknight showings are only five dollars. I'm pretty sure that's a new thing. I'm guessing they've been losing business with the economy in the toilet the way it is. I enjoyed the movie greatly, and kinda want to see it again. After sitting for two+ hours, however, I was practically crippled and had to hobble down the stairs (downside of stadium seating) to get out. This was by far the worst my knees have been after sitting in a movie theater (they protest after any being bent for any length of time longer than about ten minutes).

We also exchanged our Christmas gifts and I am now in possession of all sorts of wonderful kitchen things. This means I have significantly less excuse to cook real food once in a while. *grins*

Baking is good! I did put the gift receipt in the front of the book, though, so if you don't like it, don't hesitate to trade it in for something you'd get more use out of.

I'm glad you enjoyed your evening out and your Christmas gifts! What type of kitchen stuff did you get? Hope you get to experiment with some new recipes soon!

Reading all the essays about Harry Potter last night inspired me to rent HP and the Sorcerer's Stone -amazingly enough, I had never seen it. That was kind of fun.

I got basic necessities, really. Colander, rubber scrapers, sharp knives, a liquid measuring cup, veggie peeler, that sort of thing.

Fresh pasta with a light, healthful (but yummy) vegetable sauce it sounds like!

That sounds like a positively very fun night. :) Except for your knees though.

*hugs*

Yeah, one of the wonderful side effects of approaching middle age is apparently bad knees (at least in my family).

Wow, a $5 movie! That is better than my senior price. LOL (One of the bet things about getting into the 60's is the seniot movie price)

Better than matinee prices at most places, too. Too bad it's not really convenient to do mid-week, after work movies most of the time.

Glad you had a good time and got presents, to boot! Sherlock Holmes is one of the movies on my list to see sometime soon.
