It's 7:30 am. We have 20 inches of snow with another two to three expected by the end of the day (yesterday the prediction for our area was right on the border between 4-8 and 8-12, so naturally I expected about 4 inches from this monster). Aside from a brief trip to NH last winter, I have not personally seen this much snow since I was about 12. I somehow always manage to be somewhere else when the areas I've lived in have been hit with the big storms. So let me just say, this is AWESOME!* It makes me want to go out and build snow forts and tunnels and battlements, to have an epic snowball fight with everyone in the neighborhood. I may at least try to make a snowman later.

*Yes, I know this isn't anything like awesome for the people who have to deal with the mess, for emergency services and the people who need emergency services, etc. But on a purely personal level, totally awesome!

I definitely thought of you when I stepped off the porch and sank up to my KNEE in snow. I was expecting to hit bottom a lot sooner than I did.

I wouldn't want to get this much very often, and I'm still disappointed that it came on the one day of the year when I had a date to look forward to *sigh* but it being a Saturday and having nowhere to go, it's a little bit lovely to just watch the snow fall.

it's still snowing up here too. we've got like 18 inches or so. Well that's a rough guess from me stepping out off my porch two steps and sinking up to my knees. Yipes!

WPXI is saying 15 inches most places with isolated areas up to 18 inches. But the snow was up to my knees and so I measured it with a stiff tape measure. Definitely 20 in, in a non-drifty place. You probably have the same, since I can't believe your knees are any closer to the ground than mine (you are taller than me, after all).

Wheeee, snow forts and tunnels! I haven't been in snow like that since the early 1960's.

I get really tired of all the little dribs and drabs of snow we usually get here, but this is pretty fun. :)
