A conversation with [livejournal.com profile] eve11 Monday evening into yesterday went something like this:

Eve: More snow coming. May have to build a snow TARDIS tomorrow.
Me: Ooh, I'll build a snow K-9 if you build a TARDIS.
Eve: Hm, what about a K-9 in exchange for a Dalek - the TARDIS might get mistaken for a shed.
Me: Totally. You're on.

However, yesterday I totally wimped out. After playing in the snow with a couple of little kids for a while in the morning, I came home cold and wet. By the time I'd dried off and gotten warm, I had no desire to venture back out again. On top of that, the snow was completely powdery and it seemed doubtful a snow K-9 would be workable.

And then we got another three or four inches over night. Not near as much as they were calling for originally, thank goodness. And the movie theaters weren't showing early afternoon matinees and I had nothing to do. So, I shoveled the sidewalk, cleaned the stovetop (my God it was disgusting) and then squared my shoulders. Time to build a snow robot dog. Well, unearth a snow robot dog might by the more accurate description. I made it as far as my back deck, which had close to four feet of snow drifted into the corner. Hm, I said to myself. No need to clear the steps down to the back yard when I've got all this snow here. And so, this happened:

I couldn't think of any way to make his head stay on his body, so I just made it a slightly worse for wear K-9. He certainly had this sort of experience often enough on the show.

The snow, as expected, was very powdery and difficult to work with. Which meant that I was able to pack large clumps of it together, but creating any sort of fine detail was nearly impossible with the tools to hand (to wit: my hands, encased in very large, clumsy mittens or my fingers, not encased in clumsy mittens but freezing cold). Thus the comically drawn paper bits.

It's still snowing, which you can see even in the pictures - he was nice and packed down when I finished him and by the time I got the paper bits on to photograph him, he was covered all over with a fluffy layer of new snow.

Holy smokes, look at your porch! And OMG K-9! In a few pieces but he looks great! Maybe when it warms up a little bit you can figure out how to attach his head. And I can figure out how to attach my Dalek's head too. Right now, he is in the process of getting completely snow-covered. *sighs*

Luckily, it's just the back porch, but it drifted really high in the corner.

I have a feeling if I so much as touch K-9's head any time soon, it will revert to its millions of constituent snowflake parts. I think he's beyond repair, lol. It was definitely a good diversion from the endless boredom, however. :)
