It's the last day of the Olympics. The competitive events are done, all the medals have been awarded, it's all wrap-up from here on out.

I wanted to do a little list of my favorite moments, but my memory being what it is, I can no longer remember most of them. *is lame*

But here's what I still remember (there were some bad moments as well, but I'm not focusing on them tonight):

* The USA Nordic Combined team. Those guys kicked ass to win the first US Olympic gold in the sport, as well as several individual medals.

* Evan Lysacek winning gold in the men's figure skating. His skating was great, and the mini drama playing out on the medal podium was too funny to ignore.

* Ski cross and snowboard cross. These events were just a ton of fun to watch.

* Watching all the snowboarders do their thing with their ipods playing away. As someone said somewhere along the line, as a sport, it's about having fun, far more than other, older Olympic sports.

* Laughing at the bobsledders in their skintight outfits and not so skintight bodies (yeah, I'm like that - I know these guys are strong and fit, but they're not lean enough for skintight spandex, seriously).

* Celebrating when Steve Holcomb won gold for the US bobsled team for the first time in sixty years.

* Every view of Vancouver. What a beautiful part of the world!

* Norway's Petter Northug surging ahead at the end of a thirty mile race to win the cross-country 50km.

* Kim Yu-Na's breathtaking free skate.

* Every minute of the USA Canada hockey game today. It was hard to root for just one team (yeah, I rooted for Canada, hopefully I won't be stripped of my US citizenship as a result) but both teams played just about as well as anyone could hope for. And Sid the Kid, after being quiet for the past three games, came up big when it counted and got the overtime goal for Canada.

There were a ton more, which I'm sure I'll remember somewhere along the line. Probably when I'm watching a highlight reel. I love the Winter Olympics so much more than the Summer Olympics, and I'm sad that it's going to be four more years before we get to do this again.

Vancouver really looks gorgeous. It was great to see so much of it.

I'm looking forward to the Summer Olympics... I love all the swimming and track and gymnastics and diving.

I like the gymnastics and the track events. The diving makes me cringe. I will probably forever wait for someone to crack their skulls on the board as they go over.

Nordthug did a tremendous job! It was quiet at work so everyone gathered in the break room to see the last part and it was breath-taking. It was a thriller!

It's sad it's over.

It was amazing to see how tight the clump of skiers still was after 50km. No one was successful in breaking away for more than a few minutes. The US kid held on for longer than I think anyone really expected before dropping back, but his 28th place finish was his best ever, so even that deserves to be celebrated.

wow, I really enjoyed your wrap up. I saw so little of the games, really only a few events the first Saturday and utube of some of the snowboard events. They do look like fun!

I was surprised at myself, how much I got into the Olympics this time around. I didn't watch much of the Torino events (hm, just realized that was the winter I was in NH with you) and I don't really remember watching much more than the figure skating and speed skating from Salt Lake City. But this year revived my love of the games.

I agree with your high points (with the exception of the hockey which as you know just doesn't do it for me.) I was really excited with how well the xc ski team did. They were wonderful. I also love watching the ski jumping.
I like both winter and summer. The swimming, diving and to a lesser extent the track event in the summer appeal to me.

Ah and I forgot the equestrian events in the summer

I'm glad that you were able to watch and enjoy so much of the Olympics! Congrats to Sid the Kid and his teammates as well as to the US team for keeping the whole thing interesting.
