I seem to be in a bit of a writing slump these days. I've spent the past two or three weeks working on the next chapter of Troll Slayer and nothing worth reading is coming out of me. So I apologize for the delay. It will get written eventually. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next weekend. But definitely someday. In the meantime I'm going to go watch some Farscape and wait for my brain to resume functioning.

Sometimes the muse goes on vacation without us! Sometimes it helps me to lie down in a quiet place (like my bedroom), close my eyes, and put myself into the scene. Who's talking? What's going on? Who's watching, and who's participating? What's ahead for the characters, and what do they have to say/do/discover in order to reach that place?

I do that sometimes. More often, I get my inspiration while I'm at the gym. I'll get on the treadmill and start to run, and then focus all my attention on plotting out the next scene or ironing out a difficult bit of dialogue. It usually works, the trick is to remember what I've worked out long enough to get it onto the computer. :)

I've found that running is good for my creative juices as well. There must be some sort of psychochemical thing going on. My Brother says that he is the same, when he needs to think he gets up and walks around.
