I've a question for those of you who watched the Oscars last night. One of my coworkers asked me if I had watched, which I didn't. She wanted to know if it was just her, or was Dustin Hoffman stoned out of his mind when he was presenting the Oscar for Best Picture?

I'm kind of sorry I missed that, it sounds like it was terribly funny, in one of those horrific, train wreck kind of ways.

I wouldn't say he was stoned per se, certainly not nearly the train wreck that Liz Taylor was a few years back, but both he and Babs completely ignored whatever was scripted and just improvised. Badly.

Thanks. According to my work friend, it was one of those moments when there was dead silence in the audience, everyone just staring at the two of them fumbling around on the stage.

He mumbles. I think he's kind of shy without a script to go from. Also, she took charge and he sorta did what she said. I don't think he was stoned. I think they were either unprepared or uncomfortable with the entire thing.

It sounds like it was a bit of a disaster either way. According to my friend, it was a terrible way to introduce the best picture of the year.

I had not seen Meet the Fockers, so I thought they were just revisiting the personalities of their characters from the movie. She did seem very in charge, and he seemed rather uncomfortable, but I wouldn't have said stoned. Somewhere else in his thoughts, perhaps.
