Advanced
You scored 100% Beginner, 86% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 61% Expert!
You have an extremly good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels's questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don't use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score.
I suppose I can live with 'Advanced'. I had to beat my perfectionist self down when I wanted to go back and try to find my wrong answers and fix them. But at least there is one consolation for not being perfect. According to the breakdown they give, 100% of the people in my age grouping scored lower than me in each category. (Or it could be that I'm the only person in my age group to have taken the test, or they could be blatant liars, lol.)
Here are the random quotes from Saturday, with their sources and the folks who id'ed them correctly.
1. "Can't cook, won't bathe, and now she's narcoleptic. She's a triple threat." Lava's a Many Splendored Thing - Farscape, season four. Crichton talking to D'Argo about Noranti.
2. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. The opening line of 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen. Correctly identified by

lil_banik_slave.
3. Any view of things that is not strange is false. The Sandman, Fables and Reflections, by Neil Gaiman.
4. Chapter read and lesson learned / I turn the lights off while she burned / So while she's three hundred degrees / I throw the sheets off and I freeze.Barenaked Ladies, 'Who Needs Sleep'. Correctly identified by

5. "I'm a child, I'm in need, I was just speeding up the proceedings." The Bearded Lady - Hetty Wainthropp. Geoff talking to Hetty. Correctly identified by

Date: 2005-02-28 10:06 pm (UTC)Of course, it could be that people deliberately refuse to learn the correct words because they couldn't stand the geeks like me who always got them right back in grade school. Wouldn't be the craziest thing people do.
BTW, your response to my post about the English language reminded me of something amusing I once saw about "simplifying" English. Will have to see if I can find it.
