In what is at least usually my Mother's Day tradition (admittedly, sometimes when the weather is crap or I'm feeling especially blah, I may miss it) I hoisted myself out of bed at an unreasonably early hour, walked the two miles to the race venue (there are no buses in my neighborhood early Sunday morning) and ran the 5k Race for the Cure. From the time the first runners crossed the starting line till I crossed the finish line was 37:40. It took something like a couple of minutes to get to the start line from way back in the pack so I don't know exactly what my time was, but the times should be posted in a few days.

I think this was definitely the coldest morning that I've done the race. Maybe not quite 40F when I left the house, with a bitter wind. But because I was running and didn't want to carry extraneous things like hats and mittens with me, all I had was my running clothes and a sweatshirt. Brr!

And now I'm back at home, relaxing for the afternoon. I should do laundry at some point, but my shoulder is already angry at me for scrubbing one of the cat boxes yesterday and I'd prefer it not get even angrier. Instead, I watched Doctor Who: Vampires of Venice and now I'm ready to watch the Confidential. And then, well, probably more Doctor Who, since I've discovered that Netflix has season three available to watch instantly. Someday I'll be productive again, but it won't be today, I think.

Happy Mother's Day!

The good thing about the unreasonably early start, is that when it's all done, you still have the whole day to spend. So I'm getting my Doctor Who fix and then maybe my energy will pick up to do some house work.

I have been shamelessly lazy all day. I didn't even manage to get laundry done, which will make tomorrow interesting. :)

I'm glad I dragged myself out and did the race. But, despite the fact that I'm now running a bit further than that a couple times a week (sort of), I feel pretty much completely done today. Maybe it was the addition of the two mile walk before the run.

Times are up already, ah the joys of the digital age :)

I averaged 11:07 per mile. For a straight 3 miles that would be 33:21, plus a bit for the extra tacked on at the end gave me a 34:29, not bad :) You were not far behind me.

35:11 for me. Not terrible, but about half a minute or so off my 2008 race time.

I need to really try to get in better shape and run the Great Race this fall, try to get a better time.
