auntiemeeshTime for another hockey game. On Saturday, I was weakly cheering for Philly. Right now I don't know if I could stand having the Flyers get the Cup. I may end up going back and forth on this issue right up until the very last second of the final game. I suppose that means I'm hating Hossa less than the Flyers today.

Nevermind, I guess I'm rooting for the Flyers.
The Flyers have Carcillo on the ice tonight. I suspect this means the Flyers will NOT escape a second game with no penalties.
First Period (I'm using the game clock tonight, as close as I can get)
NBC needs to get it together. Attempting to take a comercial break on an icing, not a good plan.
13:15 Big flurry around the Flyers net but they held on and cleared the puck.
13:10 Carcillo just took out his own teammate. D'oh!
13:05 And the 'Hawks have a delayed penalty called against them. The Flyers are going on a power play. (Chris Versteeg called for tripping.)
Doesn't look like the Flyers have made much improvement with their pp.
11:00 The Flyers just took an icing while on the pp. Face off in the Flyers D zone.

5:10 And there it is, the penalty against the Flyers. Blair Betts is going to the sin bin and the 'Hawks go on the power play for the first time this series.

First period ends. This was a much different start to a game than Saturday. No goals, more evenly dispensed penalties. Leighton looks calm in net tonight. Niemi hasn't had to face as many shots despite a lot of play in his end of the ice.
Oh bless him, Jeremy Roenick is still trying to be an talking head. He gets soooo excited. He's loving the "smashmouth hockey" we're getting tonight. Lots of big hits on both sides of the ice.
Second Period
18:10 One or two shots each side but things are starting off a little calmer this period.
I feel like the Flyers need to get on the scoreboard first and soon if they want to win this game. I feel like it's only a matter of time before the 'Hawks score, but the Flyers look less certain.
14:52 Richards takes another penalty. The 'Hawks get a power play.
13:35 Betts had a shorthanded chance. Couldn't capitalize.

12:25 Niemi just robbed Richards on a breakaway!
9:54 Halfway through the game. Still no score despite a surge by the Flyers. Niemi made a couple crucial saves to maintain the status quo.
6:55 Leighton stopped a puck off Hossa's stick. First time Hossa's done much of anything tonight, as far as I can see.
6:00 'Hawks turn to surge, but Leighton held firm, making the saves he needed to make. Score still tied 0-0.
5:34 Niemi may have just made the save of the game against Arron Asham.
3:30 Some really nice cycling by the Flyers in the offensive zone.
2:51 Marian fricking Hossa beat Leighton to break the tie. Blackhawks 1, Flyers 0

The Flyers need to get themselves settled down now.
:35 A little after whistle action now, as the Flyers are starting to feel very frustrated. Troy Brouwer takes a roughing call, giving the Flyers a power play.
End of the second. Things went a little off the rails for the Flyers in the last three minutes. Luckily, they have a little break now, time to gather themselves and get this train back on the rails.
Third period
Flyers power play not looking great.

10:37 The Flyers are pressing hard. They need one goal to tie this game up. They're keeping the 'Hawks back on their heels, but Niemi and the 'Hawks D are hanging on.
8:30 Trading chances. Now it's the Blackhawks turn to push the Flyers back.
4:43 Just under five minutes left. Flyers and 'Hawks are both playing a little frantically. The Flyers have been outshooting but not getting anything through.

:20 Flyers had some incredible chances but Niemi just refused to let anything through. Now they've iced the puck and will have a D zone face off. keeping Leighton out of net.
The Blackhawks win a second game. The Flyers go home to Philadelphia down 0-2. That is not a good place to be.
I really like The Fratellis and I really like Chelsea Dagger, but after these past few games, I may not be able to listen to it again for a good long while.
