Once upon a time, I had muscles in my left arm. They weren't very strong, admittedly, but they were at least functional.
We have a childproof gate at our door, at work. I can open it fine with my right hand. Problem is, as often as not, I'm carrying a child with my right arm and that hand isn't free. I cannot open it with my left hand. This presents problems.
I added weights to my arm work this weekend, to see if I can fix this problem. I can only do bicep curls, because I can't fully complete any other motion, even weight free, yet. But I can do three pounds with the bicep curls, no pain at all. So that is of the good. I will be able to restore at least some measure of strength.
I made the mistake of also trying to do some external rotation exercises, with the stretchy band. I can pull the band about an inch before that one hurts. I did ten anyway, which was the mistake, as I can really feel that muscle protesting every time I move my arm now. I guess I'll just have to continue being patient with that one a little bit longer.
