Happy Birthday, maripo5a! I hope you had a wonderful day, full of hobbits, fun, family and friends.

I've had a very fun, busy weekend. eve11 abducted our good friend uisceboo and brought her into town for the weekend. Yesterday we went to Joann Fabric's and bought stuff with which to make costumes for Dragon*con. (Yes, we're planning well in advance, here.) Then we made brownies and watched some Farscape before going back out to see Constantine, which I really enjoyed. Watched a little more Farscape (interviews with cast members and fans about the SaveFarscape movement) and went to bed.

This morning we went to a little restaurant that serves only crepes and had a yummy brunch. Then we headed out for more shopping. I made the mistake of heading into Hot Topic and found these boots that I couldn't resist. Being plastic rather than leather, they were dirt cheap. So that became a birthday present to myself. Along with Dark Angel, season One, which I've been wanting for a while.

After that, we went to a Middle-Eastern restaurant for dinner before coming back home. When I got home and got online, I found all the lovely birthday wishes from all of you waiting for me. All in all, it's been one of the nicest birthdays I've had in years.

And I have now officially left my tweens behind, ready to assume a life of responsibility. Or, you know, not.

Don't worry, they'll be there. I had been playing around with the idea of doing a costume for Death, from The Sandman, and once I saw those boots the idea was cemented in my mind. All I need now is a large ankh to put on a necklace, a silver-studded black belt, and possibly a black blazer, if I'm feeling ambitious enough. The way things are looking now, I'm likely to have a different costume for each day of the con, lol.

So are you planning on coming in on Thursday or Friday? It runs through Monday, you know, Labor Day, but there usually isn't a whole lot going on that day. Saturday night is THE night, tho Friday is a close second.
