The battle rages on between cat and tree. For the most part, the tree seems to be winning. I had some pieces of Victorian tinsel that had to come off the tree because Zoe couldn't resist. It isn't dangerous for her (not that kind of tinsel) but she was in real danger of destroying it all.

Her favorite thing to do, however, is sit in the window (behind the blinds), stick a paw through the blind and bat at the tree. I've tried to get a picture of it but at the first hint of a camera coming out to play, she's gone. Just now, she came dashing through the living room, fought briefly with a low-hanging branch, yowled just a little, and took off like all the demons of hell were chasing her. I really do love that girl.

Now we know what each of "your" cats loves: catnip (or catnip-scented cardboard) for Mal; evergreens for Zoe, and snuggle time for Maggie. All in all, they seem pretty easy to please!

Mal was at the catnip cardboard again this morning. All of the mice have disappeared, though. I should hunt them down and retrieve them so he can have some play time.

I wouldn't be surprised if he knows where they are and can get them out when he wants to play with them. Every once in a while some show up here.

I pulled out the washing machine and dryer to clean behind and beneath them today. I found an amazing selection of cat toys (of the pencils, soda bottle caps, and straws variety, mostly) as well as a truly terrifying amount of fur! It made me think of your story of all the cat toys that emerged from behind your stove when it was being repaired. I hope that Mal's mice are in a more accessible hiding spot this time - such as under the sofa or under your bed.

Zoe finally lost her mind on Monday evening, took a flying leap and landed half way up the tree. That's when I knew it was time to undecorate and get the thing out of my house, lol.

It was amazing how well the tree and ornaments held up to Zoe's concerted onslaught of kitty destructiveness.

If you don't get the daily Mutts comics you should go to the web site and see the ones for today and last Sunday. You just click on the calendar under strip archives.
